File manager inquiry

i just bought a new file manager for my aging asus zenpad 8.0 tablet...because the preloaded app is no longer supported by the developer. Is it safe to un install that app? Doesnt make sense in keeping 2 file managers

If you're talking about the preinstalled file manager, then it's unlikely that you can uninstall it (unless the device is rooted). You might be able to Disable it in the Settings>Apps​ menu.
