File Manager & OTG Storage

I am having an issue with OTG storage where as only the stock file manager sees the OTG sd card, I use ES file explorer pro and this does not detect the OTG storage. Any ideas why this is?

The first time you insert mass storage into the phone, there should be a pop up asking for permission to access that particular drive. You then have to 'allow', and select the root directory of the mass storage in order for your app to access the drive. If you don't select the root folder, things might not go as expected. Did you get the permission request and directory select request?

not sure if i did or not, is there a way to get the pop up again?
