Hello,

Last night i unfortunately broke my Galaxy S3. The screen is broken, cracked across the whole thing, and when they incident occurred, the LED light for the camera was stuck on. I popped the battery out and now the phone will not do anything. I have many pictures and videos on the phone that I hadn't backed up. Is there anyway to power the device on or recover the files from the memory on board? I tried to reset the device (power button, home key, and volume up) but it did not respond. I tried connecting it to my computer through the USB port but the program on the computer says no device is connected ( I assume because the phone is turned off) I took the back off the device (11 small screws) and nothing seems to be physically damaged. Any one have any thoughts or suggestions? I have tried everything I have found online today and nothing works.

Thanks!

I know i can replace the cracked screen but I'm really wondering what else could be wrong because the device wont power up so this means there is some other problem right? I used a multi meter to test the battery and it is at 3.8 volts. and I popped it into the phone and checked on the phone connectors to see if it was making contact and it is. Is it possible to access the memory of the phone at all any other way?

Yeah thats what i figured. I was wondering if i took the phone apart and had another s3 that worked if i could transfer the circuit board containing the memory and power the device up and have the pictures? just a thought but it seems like a long shot as something internally is still wrong to prevent it from turning on

If the phone won't power on at all then having access to another working S3 probably won't help - it sounds like the mainboard got damaged somehow.

It's possible that something just happened to the Power button - you could try removing the plastic part and just activate the micro-switch manually.

Do you have a different battery to swap in?

You could try disconnecting the screen assembly and see if the phone will power on then (by the vibration and power on audio). Replacement screen assemblies are relatively inexpensive http://m.repairsuniverse.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-screen-assembly-replacement-white.html

if the phone powers on vibrate n goes off as soon as the s3 logo comes . i dont know if this will work for u but i had a problem with my Galaxy s3 T999 last night where it was just coming on and off as soon as the s3 logo comes on, try changing lcd but the problem still existed , so i did some trouble shooting n i decided to remove the camera n replace it with another n boom it came on n booted up . u said when the phone fell the camera light came on n stayed on right so its possible the the camera coulda gotten damage n cause the additional problem
