So on last week Weds. I filed a complaint with the BBB because Sprint has failed to deliver quality service in regards to their network. Here in the Houston area I cannot get over 60kbps speeds at anytime of the day. My desired resolution was to allow me to get out of my contract withouth an ETF or to allow me to upgrade to an LTE phone since LTE will be live in Houston on the 15th. Well I called the retention department on Thursday and the representative asked me to wait for the "Executive Department" to call me back to try to help me work on this issues. One thing to note from this is that its good to see that Sprint is trying to handle issues. So what do you guys think they will do and do you think I went too far? Mind you that i've spent hours on the phone and at the strore just to find out that theres nothing Sprint can do about speeds because of their growth in subscribers.

Understand your frustrations but really I'm not sure how far your going to get with this whole situation. Sprint is in the middle of a restructuring process with its network. That alone is an excuse for their messed up network at this time, we know its not a great excuse but it works for them.

Another problem which was evident on other carriers was Sprint took on iPhones which has put more strain on an already failing 3g network, coupled with Sprint's unlimited data plans which has drawn in many iPhone junkies looking for unlimited data at a good price.

Sprint's typical home signal solution will be offering the Airave to you and then insist that 3g/4g/voice coverage is working in your areas according to their system checks.

Trust me I'm not defending Sprint, I've been a customer for 8 years now and have seen the network go from bad to good back to bad again and still am waiting to see proof of this Network Vision plan improving 3g speeds along with LTE being turned on.

Sprints speeds are very poor, I get usually somewhere in the 75-200 kbps on 3g which is still better than what your getting but by no means acceptable when your trying to surf the internet and use the phones how they are intended.

I look at other carriers and they all have their goods and bads... Either prices are too high, limited coverage in my area, dropped calls, poor customer service... Its a no win situation in the cellular phone market..

Basically pick your poison (carrier) and take a big gulp :p

Good stuff..but really I don't think Sprint possibly new the overall impact that the Iphone would make on their network..Just in the past month there have been over 22k complaints to the BBB about network and service issues. Anyways, hopefully I hear back from that special department tomorrow and all let everyone know what the outcome was.

Long time Sprint customer here, over 10 years. I agree, Sprint speeds are atrocious, slowest out of the 4 major carriers, but i've been getting much better speeds recently on 3g (still to write home about). I'd say I avg between 600-900 kbps.

although it may be too little too late for some, but at least they are moving in the right direction.

I too have thought about jumping ship but with 7 lines on my account, the move is just not cost effective. It'd be way expensive to go elsewhere, especially with my discounts

Truthteller,

I have no doubt that the BBB has received complaints about Sprint and its network... It is poor and I'm sure Sprint is embarrassed by it but really I don't expect to see Dan Hesse come out anytime soon during prime time tv and talk about the bad quality.

iPhones, I'm sure Sprint knew ahead of time what they were getting into with those putting a huge draw on the bandwidth of the network. Sprint was looking at the iPhone as being a increase or "income" of new customers to help offset some of the costs of the network upgrades.

I agree, Im appauled that he hasn't come out in a press release.

It is because of the iphone. VERIZON changed their plans. The data use alone.... Sprint should have had the hindsight knowing what it would do and not being able to have the network capabilities. I know the growth spurts being on Verizon. Even when on the 3g there were days of no Internet because of 4g issues. I realize frustrations people have not being able to use phones as they are meant to be used. The BBB won't do anything. They just take the complaints and it is on record. I am sure retention will contact you. When I had issues with a phone Retention got to me immediately. If Sprints retention dept cares they will call. I have a 4G phone. But had it almost a year before. 4g came into my area. I know you're upset but when you do talk to them best to be civil and polite. A yelling match won't solve anything

I think we all just need to wait it out they are updating there network and when they are working on a tower near where you are it will be some what down so they can upgrade it I know because I have an AA I. Computer engineering. Alo I have Alex in to ask about my area and they told me that they are doing the network vision which will bring better 3g and 4g LTE and also by the end of 2013 and beging of 2014 or even the end of 2014 then the are fully done. With the upgrades they will have just as good of a network as version and a a lower cost. So just try to have some patenice with then it will be rocky for a little bit till they do the upgrades in your area

Why does everyone blame the iPhone? I've had Sprint long before they had the iPhone and data speeds had always been bad. The iPhone didn't magically kill the network; it was on life support already!

No, but iPhone users are known for using a lot of data, but iPhones are very optimized for web usage. Sprint was in a bad way, before the iPhone was added they had been losing subscribers every month. According to Sprint the #1 reason given for leaving Sprint was lack of the iPhone. I am sure they knew in the short term adding millions of iPhones would cause additional issues. Hopefully their upgrades will help with the issues.

Right now it appears that V and AT&T are both very worried about the iPhone 5 coming out and clogging up their LTE networks. Thus the changes away from unlimited by both companies.

Ok,

So i missed the durn call today from the exec team but I did call regular retention. Overall they provided a good service too me. They will let me buy out of my contract to upgrade to an LTE phone for 165.00. However, they threw in 100 dollars in credit for my incovenience. I didn't even ask for that but oh well I won't turn down money lol. So in all i'll end up spending about 265 for the GS3 but will come out even less when I craigslist the gs2

If you want out of your contract just do what I did, Force your phone to roam 100% of the time and after just a few months they will cut you off with no ETF.

Good luck!

PS. Get the "Roam Only" widget from the play store! I know how Sprints dial up network can be!

What PROS do you sprint customers have besides cheap plans?

Unlimited data....soon to be tied with an ALL NEW NETWORK and LTE......

Sprint is in no difference of a situation than AT&T was in while it was preforming its "Enhanced Backhaul" Project and Loads of Iphones took down the network...it's the same thing Sprint is going through now...

I don't know why people aren't smart enough to realize this.

Now look everyone is harolding ATT network and speeds...Verizon is forcing everyone off Unlimited because they know if they don't get more spectrum soon, they're going to be in the position Sprint is in now and ATT was in 2 years ago. Their network will soon need an Overhaul as well to become more spectrum efficient.

Unlimited data like stated above. Also really good customer service, much better than AT&T and Verizon ... at least when calling the 800 number. The in-store customer service can be hit-or-miss.

Really? I am a brand new ATT customer coming from Sprint. When I had called about my S3 being late and I told them that no one had contacted me they took off $90 from my first bill. They seem to have pretty good CS on the phone. Sometimes you may need to call a few times but even Sprint's CS is like that.

In store support for ATT is hit or miss at times. I like my local corp store though so far!

Sprint's on the other hand was a nightmare in my area. Guess it depends on where ya live! :P

Cheers...

I just did the same with the BBB. I cannot take it anymore. I know i may not get far with it, but i just wanted to get my complaint out there. I have been dropping calls left and right. And the past few weeks have been herendous. I had to drive about 2 miles away from my house just to be able to complete a call. the tower upgrades in my area were slated to be done June 30th. Now they have more towers down and the upgrades are not done with now no completion date. Least to say i am pissed at this. I have been fairly patient but i cant even use my phone no more.

Rant done :p
