Fileserve etc Works Sometimes

I've been trying to download files from fileserve, megaupload, etc on my non-rooted Epic. They seem to download about half the time. The other half I get an error message that the content doesn't work for my device, even though the format should work fine (and it hasn't even downloaded anyway!) Before anyone gets up in arms about pirating, I'm downloading shows that are on basic cable, i.e. Supernatural that I don't have time to watch due to having a busy life. The hdd on my desktop is dying, so that's not really an option.

I'd prefer to not root my phone. Does anyone have any suggestions or an understanding of why this functions some of the time? Also, I'm using the stock browser. I was unimpressed with Dolphin's speed compared to the stock browser.
