Does the official screen protector have a filter on it that makes the display a little darker? My display doesn't seem quite as bright as reference models in stores.

Before you do, make sure you are checking on full brightness and no display/video filtering options (natural darkens the screen usually) and that it's properly adjusted for warmth in the Screen Mode settings.

Display Settings, Screen Mode. Video filters (should only apply while playing videos and in certain apps, though) can be found in Advanced Features, Video Enhancer.

Do the reference models have the screen protector too? Using your screen naked vs with any kind of clear screen protector, naked will always produce better images.

No they don't have them on but if they're clear there shouldn't be any reduction in brightness

Even clear ones have a slight effect, but granted, it shouldn't be that much different. It's only eeeeeever so slightly, not something you'd notice a lot when comparing devices.

I wonder if the display models run the enhanced video mode setting constantly.

Did you indeed return your device, OP? Let us know when you have your replacement and how you are liking it!

I returned it. Too expensive to settle on less than perfect. Multiple different stores all brighter.
