So I was thinking of getting a 7 Pro for a secondary play phone, and happen to notice on their website they do financing through them. 6 month or 12 months of payments.

My question is, with all the stuff you hear about with China and hacking, do you think it's really safe to be putting in all your personal info, including your social security number for a Chinese company? That kind of gives me pause to think about that.

Ironically, my wife is Chinese, and she was also made in China. :) But that doesn't mean I trust Chinese companies with my social.

I financed a phone with Affirm once the interest rate is variable based on credit rating. Mine was 10%. I have a great credit score though. They do say the rate can be up to 30%. They have no penalty for paying off early and you actually save some on interest if you do pay off early. All in all it was a decent way to finance a phone for more than six months but you pay interest.

I also have used PayPal credit to finance phones in the past and other purchases. PayPal offers 0% on purchase over $99 for six months. They used to not require monthly payments but now they do require a monthly payment. Interest does still accrue and will be added if not paid off by the last day of promotional period. If you can pay it off in six months PayPal credit is the best way to finance an unlocked phone. No interest is always the best deal.
