Android Central Question
My phone is an unrooted ZTE Z899VL Tracfone, running Android version 7.1.1
When I untick the box to disable "Find My Device" under "Device administration settings", I get the following error message:
"Settings has stopped; Open app again".
Upon retrying, the error changes to "Settings keeps stopping; Close app".
Attempting to do the same in Safe Mode results in the same events.
Googling reveals many people with the same issue, but either they go unanswered, "solve" it by wiping the phone and starting fresh, or complaining to the developer of their unrelated app so it specifically can be removed. I have already disabled its location option somewhere, but am unable to find that page again (not the phone's location service, the one specific to Find My Device).
As helpful as Android/Google/Tracfone think they are being, I NEVER downloaded, enabled, or opted-in to this irritating app.
Again, the phone is an unrooted ZTE Z899VL Tracfone, running Android version 7.1.1
I need to disable (and preferably remove altogether) Find My Device. Attempting causes Settings to crash.
There is no back up for me to revert to and the app was installed by default, so would likely reappear if I factory reset.
