Find My Device, Remote Lock and Wipe features not working

Hello, I'm trying to setup the Find My Device app for our company Android devices, we have many different models of Android devices. We would like to be using the remote lock and wipe features for lost devices.

I'm currently testing with two devices:

My personal Nexus 6 phone. Android Version 7.1.1

Vizio Tablet (Model Number XR6P10). Android Version 6.0.1

For both of these devices I have done the following:

* Signed into a Google Account on the Device
* Enabled Location Services
* Enabled The "Find My Device" option under Settings > Google > Security > Find My Device (Note: there is no option here for enabling remote lock and wipe, like most all instructions on the web state)
* Installed the "Find My Device" app onto the phones from the Google Play Store.
* Confirmed that the "Find My Device" app is a Device Administrator.

When I log into the app on the phones I can click the "Enable Secure & Erase" button... but it never does anything other than say "Secure & Erase Successfully Enabled."

From the Web (google.com/android/find), I can locate the devices, and even force the sound to play on the device... I have the button for "Enable Secure & Erase" but all it does is say "Command send to phone" and nothing happens.

I have rebooted the devices, checked for updates, and even removed and re-added the google accounts.

Any ideas as to why this option is just not working?
