Find My Phone/Device Problem

I need advise please.
I haven't left the house, I knew my phone was here somewhere. My Chromebook Plus is paired with the phone, so I tried Find My Devise, told it to Play a Sound. Nothing. Silence. My husband called the phone, no sound.
When I finally located my phone, I think the problem is that I left it face down?
What setting do I have incorrectly? I thought Find My Device should work even if it was turned off?

Look for flip to shush, try turning it off.

Look for flip to shush, try turning it off.

Thank you for the suggestion. It's currently turned off. Edit: To be clear, the setting was in the Off position when I just looked.
