Question for Phil or s I me one who has played with the S5. Can you register your thumb swipe sideways? Saying this because when I take my phone out of my pocket, the thumb is sideways at 90 degree angle on the home button, if you can only swipe a completely vertical finger, it would be difficult to use.

The Galaxy S5 prefers a clean downward swipe, not a sideways movement such as if you're holding the phone one-handed and sweeping your thumb across the sensor.

Well I'm talking about a downward swipe. But can your thumb be 90 degrees while swiping downward. Not across from left to right.

Basically, the registration process asks you to swipe your finger straight down over the sensor. You can register your thumbprint in a alternate, sideways-on orientation — but the sensor definitely isn't designed to be used that way, and it doesn't reliably read your finger.
