Fingerprint option Missing

My fingerprint lock in my mobile settings is missing. The fingerprint option is completely gone from the password and security area. How can I fix it?

What device do you have?

Is the device up to date with all of the OTA (over the air) system, security and OS updates?

Is this a new device for you and are you trying to set this up for the first time or did you have a FP set up before?

Is the option greyed out or does it simply not exist?

Have you tried restarting the device?
