Fingerprint scanner disappeared on my Galaxy S5. I didn't know alternate password. HELP?

I used the Device Mgr to change lock password, the black screen shows my Name and that phone is Locked by Android Device Manager, but there is no place to enter the new password. When I touch the home button I get my old lock screen with time and date and the prompt to enter password along with the emergency call option. When I enter the reset password where it says Enter Password on the lock screen I get the same old message "unable to verify your fingerprint 5 times. Try again in 30 seconds. I used Device Manager again to send a different password and the very same thing happens. WTF do I do now? Please don't tell me to do a hard reset.
