It has always worked fine for me. No complaints here.

Always make sure that your finger(s) AND the fingerprint scanner are clean. If it's got some grease or oils on the surface then it might struggle to read.

There is also a possibility that the scanner is wearing out and might need to be replaced. I personally don't own one but some of my cousins do and they have no problems. Hopefully cleaning the sensor works.

Has the sensor been scratched at all? That can also contribute to a negative reading. Does it give any error messages when you try unlock?

My scanner works 100%, all the time, so not sure why you are having issues.

The tablet is new. I am babying it. I keep cleaning it with a microfiber cloth, and it has done this since I got it. My first note 7 did this, the second was flawless. My pixel xl is also flawless. I will try it out again.
