Fingerprint scannibg

I have tried to use this but in setting up it requires either pw, pattern, or pin. Then, when unlocking, it only uses the alternate and never the fingerprint scanner. Whats the point if you can't use it?
Any help much appreciated.

When setting up the Pin, Password or Pattern, you can opt to "not ask for it" so the only time it's required is when you restart your phone. That's what I do and that's the only time I ever see it ask for my pin - when the phone reboots.

Can you provide a screen shot of where that opt out is?

I would have a backup just in case you cut your finger etc...
