Firmware Booting Issue

Hello,

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920V) that I've been using for years. I was charging my phone overnight the other day. When I woke up, I noticed that the phone was stuck on the boot screen, and the LED light was constantly green even when I unplugged the charger cord. I then did a hard turn-off. The LED light was still stuck green even when the phone turned was off. Weird. I turned the phone back on, and it got stuck on the boot screen. I tried going to the reboot menu to “wipe cache partition”. It got stuck on the boot screen as well, so that's out of the question.

The only place I could go to is the maintenance boot menu. Even if I tried to go to safe menu or have the phone do a normal boot, it couldn’t get past the boot menu. Could it be something with the firmware? Do I need a software like Odin to fix/unbrick it?

I could use some assistance. Thank you very much!

Welcome to AC!

You could try Odin to flash the stock firmware but is this device really worth it based on how outdated it is?

I understand what you mean. I use my Samsung phone for music (offline) and applicable purposes rather than the iPhone which I currently have.

Is there a way to get the actual firmware for Odin? Also, will my data still stay the same during the procedure? It's been a very long time since I've used Odin.

Firmware try Sam mobile website or Frija firmware tool (XDA forums download)and see if it has the firmware to download, I remember from the S9 series including Notes you could save data but not the older ones such as your device.

Okay, I was able to download the firmware. I managed to plug in my Samsung phone into my PC and launched the Odin mode (where the screen says "Downloading... Do not turn of target"). I then stored the firmware into the BL slot in the Odin software. Is this correct?

EDIT: Now the software is still on <OSM> Leave CS..

You would need to put 4 files from the firmware into 4 slots in Odin , what your doing is just flashing bL which the bootloader

You extract the firmware?
Yes, I did. From what I've noticed on the Odin software, it said:

OLD model : Download on binary "(BUILD_VER)_XXX_HOME.tar.md5"
ex) G925FXXU3DPA5_G925FOXA3DPA5_G925FXXU3DPA5_HOME.tar.md5
NEW model : Download BL + AP + CP + HOME_CSC

I downloaded another one and the actual file I extracted was N920VVRS3CRH1_N920VVZW3CRH1_N920VVRS3CRH1_HOME.tar.md5

Yes that might be right flash for newer model all 4 , it's been awhile since I flashed older Samsung device

It's now stuck on 007> SetupConnection..

It probably has to do with the USB driver connection.
That always takes time give it 10 minutes if not start all over and use a known Good Cable and try different USB ports

Odin keeps failing and saying there's an issue with the port. All three of the USB ports from my PC are 3.0., so I'm guessing 2.0 might've worked? I'm also currently using a USB cord that I've recently bought, but I'll keep trying and see what happens.

Ok try another computer if u can with 2.0 port

Okay, so the bad news is that I don't have another working PC. The good news is that I was able to reinstall the USB driver, and there seemed to be no issues with the port so far. However, here's what I got.

So the firmware your flashing has to be equal or above the one on the device currently

In that case, I don't think the firmware version that I've previously downloaded was the the accurate version. I do know my device is currently on the latest version, and that's what I've been obtaining. I'll double-check and see what I can find.
