Ive rooted my phone before. I know the last time i checked the virsion it was 4.1.1. Lately ive been reciving software updates from sprint. I try to download them but they always fail so i thought i would manually do it myself. I looked up the most current version and it was 4.2.2 so i followed this video... I followed all the instructions. But at the end it said it failed in oden. I dissconected my device and then i got a message saying Firmware upgrade encounted an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. Ive looked in several forums for help and the people who have this message are still able to get into download mode. I however, can not. Ive tried holding the down key + home + power. Ive tried up key + home + power. Ive tried holding both down and up + home and power. all that happens is my phone turns off until i let go of the power. Then it gives me the same message. Ive downloaded kies to try to select a recovery mode like it says and it wont connect to kies. Ive downloaded L710SPRALEN_SPR and tried to use that with oden but it still fails. I have no other ideas of what to do. Please help me!

information that is listed at the top of that error message says

Try to redownload the files, different USB cords, and ports, updating Samsung drivers and rebooting the PC. Those are the basic troubleshooting steps.

its still stuck on that screen :x

That's most likely a softbrick, try and boot into recovery and clear your cache & dalvik cache, and reboot, that works for me most of the time. If not you'll want to reflash the file, and hopefully it works. But if that doesn't work, try and find another rom and flash it, that will more than likely fix your problem.

Hope you didn't try to flash firmware that is 4.2.2 because you will brick your phone. The Sprint version is on 4.1.2

Arrgh! When are people going to learn to read, listen and understand what they're doing before throwing ROMs on their phones?

Since you're in the Sprint forum, I'm assuming you have a Sprint phone. Replay that video, and listen to the first few sentences. What phone does he say this ROM update is for? The "Samsung S3 i9300, which is the international version of the phone." Is your Sprint phone an i9300? Is it the international version? No, it's not.

You have, in all likelihood, bricked your phone. If you can still boot into recovery mode, you can try to flash a Sprint 4.1.x ROM and hope for the best. I suspect that won't work. If you can boot into download mode, follow the steps here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...-30-2012-sprint-only-unroot-return-stock.html , then re-root and stick with known good SPRINT ROMS.

If neither of those options work, contact this business: Bricked my Phone

And to everyone except Phippys who answered: in the future, please make sure you understand what the OP is trying to do before providing advice.

While reading this I had a question ... you can flash a 4.2.2 rom designed for the sprint, right? (Like cm 10.1, I ask because I was going to do that tonight)
Thanks!

That is different. So long as the device is supported, yes.
