Question for you excited soon-to-be Evo owners: What are the first (as in must-have) apps you plan on downloading for your new Evo 4G come Friday?

Tapatalk app
YouMail
and W.TV (cant wait to stream VOD mp4 movies over 4G on this crazy screen!!!)

Other than that..look forward to finally being able to run hi-res games like LetsGolf n Asphalt 5

My list of "must have apps always seems to get shorter and shorter.....lol

SMS Unread Count
Twidroid (or Touiteur)
Dialer One
Google Voice

Those are always the first to go on my phone.

Hell ... I am not even used to having meaningful and bountiful apps ( Ahem ... WebOS ) ... Can someone direct me to a site where I can actually see a GREAT assortment of apps available ... I know I am surely going to grab my Bank of America App though .... I can just see me ... I want that ... and that ... and that ... ohhhh ... and GOTTA have that ... and .. I didn't know THAT even existed ... GOTTA have it ...

funny you should ask. i just installed a new rom on my Hero (thanks Beezy) and since i am getting rid of it soon i am keeping it pretty bare bones. so apps i felt were essential were ( i didn't have a specific one i looked for first):

Chomp
Key Ring
Advance Task Manager
USAA Mobile
Google Finance
MyBackup Pro
AudioManager
Google Voice
Twitter
Movies
Facebook
Google Maps
WeatherBug Elite
Places Directory
BatteryLife (Curvefish)

and there are several apps for Root that i don't know if i will need right when i get the Evo but fingers crossed that i will.

dang. i just realized how long my "essential" app list is. that is ridiculous.

AppBrain - the best Android apps and games on the Android market

I'm new to android, but the first app I am after is a checkbook app. Checkbook for webos really changed the way i live my life. And it REALLY helped me keep up with my finances. I will be combing the app store, for the best checkbook app that suits my needs. I never want to go to a paper checkbook again. To much hassle with receipts, etc. I am not a cash user, all on the card. So being able to enter the amount into the checkbook, while standing in front of the clerk is a huge benifit.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thx!

  • 3banana: already ported my notes to the Snaptic website.
  • SecForms: passwords, account #s, etc. Data already in the desktop client, ready to sync.
  • TripCase: heading out of town Monday on a business trip; itinerary already imported on their website.
  • WordPlayer: gots to have my ebooks for the flight :)

Sure, I've got about 20 other apps stacked up on AppBrain, but these are the "mission-critical" ones to keep me from having to stuff my Pre into the same pocket as her new replacement.

My list is in the my Sig. but a quick list is: (outside of the appbrain app)
Barcode Scanner
a solitaire game
Square
and anything else that i see that others think is really really useful. New to android and all.

I am new to Android so I have a question about AppBrain. Will AppBrain become redundant when android 2.2 comes out?

"Google have built a brand new Android Marketplace site on the Web, which lets you see apps, read reviews and try the apps out.

Not by downloading them on the Web ? using Cloud-to-device messaging, you can select your app and push it to your phone over the air with a single click. The app is pushed to your phone and automatically installed immediately."
