Those are always the first to go on my phone.

This is what I have installed on my Touch Pro2, running a version of Android 2.1 off my storage card! I will not install all of these onto the EVO, but the first several are must-haves. The rest are nice-to-haves. I know several of these will be on the device by default, and others will likely be replaced by Sense - that is, until I root my device and install Froyo!

funny you should ask. i just installed a new rom on my Hero (thanks Beezy) and since i am getting rid of it soon i am keeping it pretty bare bones. so apps i felt were essential were ( i didn't have a specific one i looked for first):

I'm new to android, but the first app I am after is a checkbook app. Checkbook for webos really changed the way i live my life. And it REALLY helped me keep up with my finances. I will be combing the app store, for the best checkbook app that suits my needs. I never want to go to a paper checkbook again. To much hassle with receipts, etc. I am not a cash user, all on the card. So being able to enter the amount into the checkbook, while standing in front of the clerk is a huge benifit.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thx!
