Just found out about the first V20 leak for the specs. Here it goes....

  • 5.5-inch in-cell screen with a 1080 x 1920 display
  • Snapdragon 820 SoC with a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU.
  • Two LG V20 variants will be available, one will sport 3GB of RAM, while the other one will ship with 4GB of RAM
  • Internal storage will be available in both 32GB and 64GB variants with a 256GB capacity microSD slot available.
  • 20mp rear camera and 8mp front.

2nd Leak:

  • 5.7-inch screen size 1440 x 2560 resolution.
  • Snapdragon 820 SoC with a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU.
  • 21MP on back, and dual camera setup in front

Also, there is a possibility that the 1080p is a non-VR version with 3GB of ram.

Specs for the LG V20 leak for the first time

Eh nothing really special. Seems a step back in many regards from the v10.

This could be the final nail in the coffin for their almost premium status. Why put a 1080p display? Especially a company with their own display tech. Seems a bad move.

Makes no sense, so perhaps fake?

After the weak sales of the g5 I find it hard to believe they would do anything to gimp the v20. LG has a lot riding on this phone. Since the v10 came with 4gb of ram, we know well get at least that much. The v10 only offered a 64gb storage option, so I highly doubt they would go with 32, especially when they're directly competing with the note 7.

All in all, I wouldn't put too much stock in this rumor.

I'm gonna hope this leak is completely wrong. Going backwards in screen size plus reducing resolution is a non starter for me. I wouldn't consider it an upgrade from my V10 even with the upgraded SoC. I was planning to utilize my jump on demand to get note 7 for a month or so then jump to the v20 but not with these specs.

It's pretty skeptical.

The V20 has to pack in the best LG could do after the flop that is the G5.

1080p may be fine for most people, but going down from 1440p does seem like an odd move. It's presumably done to save battery, but for an ultra-high end device, going down to 1080p just seems odd.

Another thing is that it suggests that it has a 4000mAh battery. In a 5.5-inch form factor. I hope I might be wrong, but since the S7 edge has a 3600mAh battery in a similar form factor, it seems like that battery might be sealed right in while also being thicker, unless LG has some battery witchcraft.

The downgrade in resolution would be suicidal..... This can't be right

I'd actually be fine with 1080p as long as it is actually bright and doesn't have horrible viewing angles like other LG phones. The iPhone actually has a really nice screen despite it's lower resolution.

You gotta hope so, unless LG is now committed to shooting themselves in the foot as many times as they possibly can. After the bath they took on the G5, why would they even consider reworking the V10 to make it more like the G5? Since they've already got the V10 bodies dyed out, giving the V20 a new form factor seems like a stupid and unnecessary manufacturing expense.

How is it more like the G5

By falling victim to the same downsizing mania that affected the G5 (and the rumored Nexus "6"). Why shrink a respectable 5.7+" phone that was lauded for its design unless you think success lies exclusively between 5" and 5.5"?

For me, the real weirdness about that spec announcement is the drop to 5.5" along with the switch to 1080p. I can make sense of one or the other for a 2016 flagship-level phone, but not both, especially at a time when the VR bandwagon is picking up speed and in the wake of a fancy new Note 7.

The 5.5 doesn't bother me as much as the screen resolution drop but I can understand those that like 5.7 as an option. Can't see why they would make screen resolution lower than V10 and G5.
I'm not sure the rumour is reputable since its not everywhere yet.

Seriously? what did they do re-hire the G5 design team? Lets hope this is all wrong. Outside of the SD-420 the V10 on MM specs out better. Assuming the following:

Android N will have its share of bugs to work out
Along with the all metal construction there is no wireless Qi charging option.
No removable battery

This feels fake indeed.

I heard the screen was actually going to be black and white.

Now...now....the G5 isn't that bad.

The only information released by LG so far has thrown around terms like "groundbreaking" and "impressive specs." I highly doubt that they'll knock down the screen resolution and storage, and since they're touting it as a "premium multimedia smartphone," I just can't see them downsizing the screen.

I know some won't approve but if the screen drops to 5.5 I'm not as concerned as losing resolution. I can forgo the wireless charging if its got a decent battery. Premium sound and removable battery is a must. Please....no mods.

I'm hoping they keep the screen size the same. I really miss the size of my v10 and note 4 now that I'm on the s7 edge. I've never used wireless charging so I personally don't care about that either. It's a safe bet that the v20 will also carry a high powered dac like the v10, but front facing speakers would be nice as well. That would be one reason to shrink the screen on the v20.

I'm also really hoping they keep the removable battery. It seems they cleaned house in their mobile division after the g5, so I'm really hoping they didn't bring in a new team that says "Samsung and Apple use sealed batteries and they sell like hot cakes so we should too."
