First live pro sporting event in VR, NBA 10/27

Game started. My seat is exactly at half court, right on the floor just out of bounds, about 3' to 4' above the floor.

Nice! Can't get much better than that for free tickets.

There is another cameraman sitting on the floor directly to my right.

Video quality is fairly good. If my internet speed was faster and my wife wasn't watching a video online at the same time, it would be better. But it's pretty good despite my max download speed of 10 Mbps.

Audio is very good, loud but not distorted.

Ok, back to the game now.

My experience from a Note 4 on 10 Mbps Wi-Fi perspective:

>> Overall experience: wow!
I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to the next live basketball game (the NCAA Final Four would be a great game to watch courtside. Hint, hint...NextVR...can you make this happen?)

>> Video quality: excellent.
I could tell they used HD cameras. It was clear and the colors were vivid and bright. I bet that it looked better on an S6 since there is a screen door effect on my Note 4 and that definitely lessened the video quality on my side when the players were a bit more distant.

There was zero lag or choppyness when I moved my head left and right to look around. Once my wife stopped watching another online video at the same time, the small stutters I saw disappeared.

>> Audio: very good.
I listened with earphones and the audio was very good. I didn't experience any distortion at all. There were just a couple times where the audio cut out but that just might be my slow internet connection.

The highest volume level was a bit too loud but that's ok, I could easily adjust it lower. Some people might like to max it out to feel like they are there.

Sitting courtside you could hear the ball dribble and hear the players talking. Although the crowd noise was a bit louder than the on-the-court players which is to be expected.

>> Camera placement: awesome!
There were three camera angles. First was at the top of the lower level directly at half court. This was used for the non game time moments or when the on-the-floor camera view wad obscured by another cameraman.

Second camera position was on the floor exactly at half court, opposite side from the benches.

I can't complain about a court side seat, exactly at half court. Although, the cameraman directly to my right got in the way a few times when the ball was in the far right corner of the court. But mostly it was not too bad. I guess that's the price to pay for on the floor seats.

Third was on the backside of the basketball pole just under rim height. That was a cool angle and I only saw it a few times during a few free-throws. I would have liked to see it a bit more and on every free-throw.

>> Overheating: Not too bad.
My Note 4 made it to about 30 minutes before it said it needed to cool down. This happened just about every 30 minutes. I'm curious if the S6 did any better.

>> App usage: couldn't get any easier.
Just launch the app, click on the live feed. Done. Thanks for keeping it simple.

>> Improvements:
Camera: I would have liked the on-the-court camera to have been another 6" to 12" higher. I could tell that the people sitting to my left were higher up and it was as if I was sitting directly on the floor. My guess is that this was intentional as too not block anyone's view.

Having another camera position maybe on the other side of the court above the scorers table or next to the team bench would be awesome.

Being able to choose which camera I want to view from would be a nice touch. But the directors selection of views was fine.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Waiting for the new gear vr for my Note 5. Excited to watch these events.
