1). Do I need to configured any APN to use 5G on AT&T?
2). Do I need to contact AT&T to tell them my IMEI #?
3). My Note 20Plus (now wife), during home usage I do see my 5G along side my WIFI (now i do not).

Thank you in advance. I'll continue to do research, but hoping i can get some one to chime in and point me to right direction.

No need to configure APN , call them to provision the sim with the imei of the device

Yikes you still have to do that and call AT&T to provision IMEI? Luckily we don't have to do that for TMobile. I'll seriously ditch them if they make using unlocked phones difficult

I had to when i took my Att sim and used in my 1+7 mclaren no service

Got online and chat with Rep, took less than 5 mins. All good, phone showed 5G instead of LTE+. Strangely, my virtual voicemail is active and working on unlocked devices.

I've used the same nano sim in every unlocked phone on AT&T since my 2015 Moto X Pure Edition, and have never needed to do more than switch the sim from one phone to the next? I just recently switched again to an unlocked pixel 3XL with nothing else needed, and it's working perfectly. Is that a 5G thing? That would be good to know for future reference ;)

What made me asked the questions was after I transferring my SIM to new phone. My phone wouldn't registered as 5G but only LTE+. I thought it was a signal issue, it was not. After provisioning with AT&T, it came right on immediately.

If you change between device with same sim it's good to have them provision it for certain things to work , like 5g or voicemail especially unlocked models , carrier version not too much

Thanks for the explanation mustang....it makes sense especially with the 5G. I'm sure my next phone will need the sim provisioned (or a new one) since it will be 5G. I'm glad you guys brought this up to make more folks aware ;)

I took my sim out of att locked s10e (lte) and put it into unlocked s21ultra 5g. Didn't contact att. Everything works great. ATT will tell you to contact them when you put their sim into another phone. One rep told me that I don't have to contact them, but that they like to know exactly what phone the sim is in. The sim card itself has nothing to do with the phone being able to connect to 5g. It's the carrier's PLAN that you pay for that allows 5g.

For some reason I was under the impression that you got basic 5G included with AT&T..... I'll never pay for 5G, 4G LTE is plenty fast enough for my needs. Unfortunately all phones seem to be going 5G, so I know my next phone will be 5G whether I want it or not :-\

Hopefully I'll at least be able to shut the 5G off if it becomes a problem, like I've been reading about

I have been on 5G plans since Note 20 and I am aware of this as well. However, after dying trying to get the phone to recognize 5g, that's when I made the calls.

Actually having 5G for us is a lot cheaper than the regular plan I had. And I got a lot more for the plan with 5G as well. So I made the switch.
