I am sure Adobe and Motorola will have Flash out as soon as they can......with the iPad 2 coming out tomorrow I would not be surprised to see something sooner than later. I am returning my Xoom tomorrow and getting the iPad 2 is not even close to what will happen. I suspect consumers will walk in and see both and Motorola needs to do something to sway an avg consumer to the Xoom over the iPad 2. The whole reason the released the Xoom when they did was to get a head start, now that they have a slim lead they need to maintain it and push forward. In my opinion they should have incentivized app builders to have their apps Xoom ready and in the market by today. The biggest thing they should have had ready by today or tonight is have Flash out.

As much as I want to tell you to calm down I agree with you... There seems to be more threads about Xoom vs. iPad 2 or "O Hey I am Returning My Xoom" threads than anything else right now.

1. If you like the iPad 2 so much GO BUY ONE
2. If you return your Xoom... GOOD FOR YOU... we don't need to know.

FYI it has to be Adobe they have the software. what XDA can try to do is make the older one to work. but out with actually having the app XDA hands are tied.

I was not comparing the iPad 2 to the Xoom.

The reason there are so many comparisons is because currently those are the only two tablets out. It is only natural to compare them. My offical stance is that the Xoom is better technolgically speaking than the iPad 2, but the apple will sell more.

Before the iPhone/iPod craziness and before Steve Jobs 2nd stint, Apple was in dire straits. Its stock nose dived and require a significant cash infusion from Microsoft. Fyi. Now, its a completely different story.

My fault I meant Apple not iPad 2. Do not get me wrong I am a complete fan of Google. But Apple has a head start and the iPads success is because of the brand history and name. Apple could build and sell crap and call it iCrap and the lemmings will buy it. Companies would see this and build crap as well that would be better crap and would have a hard time outselling the original iCrap. Hell if Motorola came out with Motorola Crap 1st, people would say why do I need crap? But two years later when Steve would be on stage announcing how they have made iCrap and how it is supperior and light weight it will fly off the shelves.

This whole ipad vs. xoom thing taught me one thing:

For starters, I hate when people compair the xoom to the 16gb ipad and say "the xoom is soo expensive i could get an ipad for 499" ...if you can't see the stupidity in that statement then your as dum as the people who say it..

...second .. I hate when people say " no flash or 4g or SD card, why would I get a product missing features when I can get the iPad that is complete from day 1"
...again if you can't see the stupidity etc. etc. ...the iPad2 NEVER WILL HAVE ANY OF THOSE FEATURES ..at least with the xoom we will get them one day

I guess there is a reason why Apple locks down their system soo much and limits what you can and cannot do with it ...because there are people out there who do need everything spoon-fed to them and need someone to hold their hand just so they can get on the internet..

I for one, will take the openness of the android OS over anything Apple will ever make. I am not 5 years old, I do not need you telling me what I can and cannot do with the device I just paid $500+ for

Steve Jobs has major separation issues.. Once you sold it to me it makes it my device now , and if I want to risk my device bogging down so that I can visit a flash based website then SO BE IT ...its my choice to make not yours !!!

Yeah, the Apple following is crazy. I personally don't get it. iTunes is the biggest pile of junk software I've ever used. Anything that requires iTunes to use it isn't worth it, period. Even if the current crop of Apple stuff didn't require iTunes I still wouldn't buy it. I've owned an iPhone, and an iPad twice. I wanted to like them, just too restricted.

more people have a need for a cell phone than for an mp3 player

And how long has the iPhone been around? These days a couple years is all a company NEEDS to make a brand name for themselves. And I seriously think you're underestimating just how many iPads have been sold in the last 8 months. I can speak from experience because the are two of them in my house alone and plenty of my friends have them as well! Which is why I know I want the Xoom (gonna be getting the WiFi version whenever it finally releases) because I've used an iPad for an extended amount of time, and put it down because I was bored with it.

The reason you compare the iPad to the Xoom is that they are the closest, and if there's anything that will dissuade Motorola and other Honeycomb tablet manufacturers from making/supporting new tablets that AREN'T iPads, it'll be because they can't get enough market share to turn a profit. Which, when you see stupid moves like only release the VZW Xoom instead of having the WiFi Only version available, you can see why Android supporters have reason to be pissed, because Motorola made a stupid BUSINESS move, that is likely to slow their support and development of new product in this space.

Thus, the iPad 2 is not just adequate comparison, it's PERFECT comparison.

Those people are dumb and it has nothing to do with motorola's business plans.

is the lack of a wifi only model hurting them? Yes it def. is

but does that mean that it is ok for people to compare the 499 ipad to the xoom, no and the people who make that comparison are absolute idiots.

the ipad that needs to be compared to the xoom is the $729 ipad 32gb+3g not the 499 model. I'm just sick of people saying "why pay 799 for the xoom when i can get an ipad for 499 that is exactly the same"

..it is no where near the same, and those people are dumb like i said earlier, it has half the memory and is missing the a wireless radio..

the fact that motorola isn't offering a 16gb/wifi only model is a completely separate issue..
