Fix V40 or get a new phone

The fingerprint scanner only works about half the time and the phone restarts frequently. Should I try to fix this (and how) or get a new phone, and if so, which one? I was thinking of getting something used on black market phone. I use Verizon

You've already tried using it in Safe Mode to see if it still restarts frequently? https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/android/lg-v40-thinq/safe-mode-lg-v40-thinq

I'm going to assume you didn't mean an actual "black market" phone (which would be illegal and risky). You can find plenty of used phones on legitimate sites like eBay or Swappa.
