Hey guys. So I just got an HTC EVO on a shared account with my friend. He however, is not the best at paying bills, but I really wanted to try Android and the EVO so I figured I'd give it a shot.

What I would like to know though, is, if we find ourselves unable to afford the raised monthly cost how could I flash my pone to Boost.

I know many people will say "just Google it" but I have tried and can't find anything helpful. I seem to come across a lot of people who want me to send them the phone for a fee and let them do it but I would rather not do that.

I know that a Palm Pixi Plus purchased from Amazon.com can be activated on PagePlus without even flashing and it's a CDMA phone. So maybe there's a simple way to get the phone running prepaid on one of those types of networks?

I would be really grateful for any help.

Thank you all so much.

well, I have read that you can take it to metro and they will flash it for you for a fee, but I believe that your first months bill is included in the fee. also I looked this up on you tube, and if you sift through the tons of bs on the subject you can find some diy solutions. but put your code writing hat on because it aint easy, kinda technical. hope this helped.

I know there is a thread over at xda on flashing an evo to cricket looks fairly easy only 22 steps envolved. I will try to find it I just read it 2 days ago and I will post a link or you can search overthere youself

1/2 say it can be done, and 1/2 say it can't be done because of x, y, or z. It CAN be done because one of the girls I work with has an Evo4G and uses Cricket. Don't know how she did it though. I'll ask her tomorrow night when I go to work.

My advice, don't. it can be done, but from the looks of it there's so many steps and technical lingo involved that imo it's not worth it.

Well, her brother did it for her, but he's back in Afghanistan now. I don't know how he did it, but I'll bet it was the 22 step process. The dudes a total tech geek, but you'd never guess it.

A friend of mine told me Metro can do it but it'll mess with your data connection. I'm not sure how valid that is, because I've never talked to the folks at Metro, but they apparently told her if they flashed her android (I think it was an older samsung, but I'm not sure) she would lose her 3G speeds - it would be 2G only.

Kinda like if you use a world phone from, say, Sprint and put in a sim card from TMob or AT&T - it'll work but you only get 2G coverage.

YMMV. I haven't done this but I have heard this stuff.

I just looked at cricket even though ill never go there. Smartphone plans start at $55 a month for 1GB of data....fail...even their $65 a month plan is 1GB of data.

This EVO is running on Metro PCS. Full MMS, text, web, apps etc. Data is slow, everything is good besides.

Also I have a EVO 3D on sprint because honestly the EVO 4G battery lasts me about 4-5 hours.
