Android Central Question

Why can I not watch All4 videos. It says 'flash not supported on this device'
Also on my banking app and others won't work
Please help. May go back to a Samsung. Never any problems

Android hasn't supported Flash in quite some time, switching to Samsung may not be the answer. There may be a browser on the Play Store that adds support for it in some way, maybe Opera?

I think Dolphin is another browser with a Flash workaround.

The banking app not working is another issue all together. I'd check the Play store reviews to see if others have the same issue. Banking and other one off apps with a limited user base (especially if a small bank) can be notorious for bugs that go unresolved. Depending on the nature of the problem, switching to Samsung may work, but not because Samsung is better. It's just that Samsung is the most popular brand, and most likely to be used when beta testing. Android is a fractured market and it's not feasible to test every single make and model phone, so it's common to see bugs in one phone but not another for the same app.

With the banking app, if it has an app,, it has a web portal, and that probably has a way of messaging the bank. Let them know which make and model phone you have, which version of Android you're running, and what problems you're having. (and be prepared to wait a few months for the fix). My banking app crashed when I tried to use my fingerprint to get into it. I notified them a few times, as they tried various fixes. (And this was on Pie, months after it was released, on a Pixel 2 - how much more "stock Android" can you get?) It took a few months, but they came out with an update, and it works fine now. (You have updated to the latest version of the banking app, haven't you?)

As for Flash, it has massive security holes, which is why Android dropped support for it. Apple never did support it - Steve Jobs said something to the effect that Flash was designed for exactly the environment that a phone isn't, and he'd never put it on an iPhone. But Dolphin did Flash the last time I looked, and a few others did too. Look for browser in Play, and read the information on each one. (Be aware, though, that by running a browser that handles Flash, you're compromising the security of your phone.)

I can't speak for others, but Dolphin didn't run Flash itself on the phone. The last time I used it, the Flash portion of a site would be redirected to a server, converted to something usable by the browser (HTML 5, maybe?), then forwarded to your phone. Do you think that method would still leave you exposed to the security flaws?
