Long time HTC advocate. Started with The Mogul (Titan) and WinMo 5.. Had a diamond, touch pro 1, touch pro 2, Original Evo, HTC One X, and HTC One (M7)... M7 was pissing me off after the purple tint issue was refused to be fixed.. Sprint had S5's for $1 around Christmas year they came out, so I grabbed one..

I was beyond excited to come back to HTC after almost 2 years away.. My excitement was short lived..

The audio sucks for music.. Although with headphones it's amazingly loud..

Photos is the dumbest app ever. Can't move pics to new folders. Can't create new folders.. The app cache is huge (12 GB on mine) even though every single photo is on my sd card.. Taking away Gallery for a Google app is poor planning..

Screen isn't that good.. Side by side my S5's is better..

Charger port is dumb.. Just because I can't use any charger that's already in my house.. (read some reviews about being careful about 3rd party chargers also)..

I feel like the Camera is lacking settings compared to my S5.

The whole UI lacks settings compared to Samsung.. That could be because it's closer to a stock UI though..

Overall, I regret my purchase.. My S5 was just fine.. My money could've been better spent elsewhere I feel.. Hate feeling this way about an HTC device I was so excited to get, but it's true..

Hi! I am sorry that you are unhappy with your purchase. Can you return the phone and get your money back?

It does seem you're unhappy with your device. Because for me I'm not experiencing any of the same issues I feel that the music is great and that the external speakers are even better than M7 and M9 which I have both phones.
Now when it comes to the charging port I just use the charger that came with it and my battery seems to last me all day at least 18 to 20 hours. And I have some friends who have an S6 and the screen on my HTC 10 seems to be better than their S6.
Now when it comes to photos I'm still getting a little used to it but I have taken a fair amount of photos and none of it chessie's the photos now it backs it up to Google photos but all of my pictures go to my SD card. So I'm not really sure what's going on there.
Now yes this phone is more stock like than any of the phones but to each their own. I like more of a stock looking phone than Samsung phones I think Samsung phones are too riddled and too cluttered. I think the camera takes great pictures much better pictures than the M7 and M 9 I also do photography so it does take some pretty damn well good pictures.
Welcome to the forums if you are unhappy I would definitely return your phone. But I am an avid HTC owner who have owned many different HTC devices since the HTC Evo and this is their best phone yet. Even all the review sites that have reviewed this phone have said just that.

Have a hard time taking it seriously when you're saying you liked the S5 better but to each his own...

You can create new folders rather easily in photos.

As far as chargers go. If you buy a cheap charger it's an issue and that goes for all phones.

The camera is awesome on this phone. Is your device up to date with the latest fixes.

A trimmed down settings in nice. Also if you can't find a setting. Try searching it from the main setting window.

The UI is not as gimmick packed as samsung. I have a hard time actually believing 3 yo hardware and software out does one of the best processors on the market. Coupled with a crap ton if ram on a skim operating system.

If it is sluggish do a factory reset or wipe the cache partition.

Bashing a phone because you don't actually take the time to learn it is not a review. It's straight lazy.

I'm afraid that's going to be the case for the majority of users. We live in a disposable society seduced by the latest shiny distraction and it's sometimes very difficult to separate needs from wants. Sounds like the S5 fit your needs and you fell prey to your inner Golum

If you can't return it sell it.

Sorry to hear it. If you are happier with your s5 then stick with it,and return the 10.

So far I really like the phone. However there are some small annoyances compared to the M7 and M8 for me. 99.9% are related to look and feel.

The audio sucks for music.. Although with headphones it's amazingly loud..Audio seems to be fine, although I have intermittant issues with the Plantronics 505 not connecting on Bluetooth. Volume sometimes is too loud, other times too soft, never a happy medium. My Plantronics 165 seems to work fine though.

Photos is the dumbest app ever. Can't move pics to new folders. Can't create new folders.. The app cache is huge (12 GB on mine) even though every single photo is on my sd card.. Taking away Gallery for a Google app is poor planning.. I agree its not a very good app at all

Screen isn't that good.. Side by side my S5's is better.. I think the screen is pretty decent, I can even see it in daylight

Charger port is dumb.. Just because I can't use any charger that's already in my house.. (read some reviews about being careful about 3rd party chargers also).. It was expensive to get new cables, but I have come to like USB-C since I no longer have to worry about which side goes up

I feel like the Camera is lacking settings compared to my S5. I really don't use the camera all that much, so I can't really comment

The whole UI lacks settings compared to Samsung.. That could be because it's closer to a stock UI though.. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the UI, I loathe, despise Touchwiz. Everything is so much simpler on the HTC

Overall, I regret my purchase.. My S5 was just fine.. My money could've been better spent elsewhere I feel.. Hate feeling this way about an HTC device I was so excited to get, but it's true..No regrets at all here. HTC made a great phone and I am happy with it.

This is SO true lol.

I agree completely. I spend far too much time jumping from phone to phone and from Android to iOS and back again. Nothing is ever served by it. I always end up pretty much doing the exact same thing that I did before. Damn, new shiny things...

This. It's no use trying to force yourself to change your usage pattern to like a phone.

If a phone doesn't fit your usage pattern, then it's best to use another one that does.

To make a counter point, my bowling coach told me this, and it applies to a lot of things: 'If you never leave you comfort zone, you rarely learn anything new'. To make an example, If you always use Windows, you'll not get any experience with anything different like Ubuntu, Mint, elementaryOS, etc.

When I had my S2, the screen size was small enough to very comfortably use it one handed. As phones got bigger I changed my screen set ups to help that. Now I place a big widget at the top to reduce my need to reach there.

But to the point, the op did try, and it didn't work out for him.

Same for me, I tried out the 10 but... It just didn't work out.

Of course. We have to try. But sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we just can't make it work. At that point, perhaps it's best to try something else.

Pretty much. I have tried most every other flagship be it at a store or using my friends. I have 2 friends with S7E and I tried it out for awhile and it still isnt my thing. I cant get on board with Samsung still to this day. Something about them doesnt grab me like HTC does. S7E is the best Galaxy phone I have used but still cant beat out the 10 for what I like in my phones. If it wasnt for the 10, I would still be using M8 as its the 2nd best phone Ive used honestly.

I absolutely loved my 10. I loved my S7 edge as well. Both are excellent phones. Only difference for me was the 10 had a weaker signal than the S7. Other than that both phones are superb. Can't go wrong either way.

Return and go for maybe the S7 since you've got the S5 or wait for the S8 If your phone will last you until next year
