Flip case and lock screen

I have a magnetic flip case and have lock screen setting on but no security options in. Ok I used to be directed to the lock screen whenever I opened my flip case. But now I've noticed that when I open my flip case the phone just goes to the last screen before I closed the case. Is this normal? I've only just noticed this. I'm sure on kit Kat that when opening the case it would take me first to lock screen, but now it's not doing this any more on lollipop. Does this happen to other people or just my phone? Appreciate any info...

Is it set to "No Lock Screen" in Settings>Security?

Thanks for reply, no, the setting on. "lock screen". I still get the lock screen if I press power button off and on but not if I close and open the case..maybe it's always been like that...but just wanted to know if others had same issue to confirm that...
