Floating Ad Nightmare

Usually I use the AC Forum app to read these forums, but today I am using my desktop and this site has become just impossible anymore because of the number of ads. I was willing to live with the incredibly slow pages loads because of the ads but now (I don't know when this started) every time I bring up a new forum, read a new thread, or do anything I get a floating ad that covers the page and then floats from left to right across the page and I have to click the x to shut it down. Sorry, this just broke the camels back. I've been coming to this site for a number of years and the website has always had its loading issues and switching to the forum app solved all of that for me. But I did read in this section some time back that the site management is looking for ways to monetize the app. I will continue to come here using the app but I will never use the website again because of all the ads and the back breaker, the floating ad on each and every page.

Once the app starts putting out ads I will be gone from this site. I understand the site owner(s) need to make money but this is so over the top that it is no longer worth the hassle and frustration of fighting all of these ads.

Yes, that's a common complaint here it seems, I use adguard and get zero ads. In the rare occasion that it's off, I certainly beat a hasty retreat and come back when the firewall is back on... I feel your pain my friend!

Yes the ads render the site unusable. Up until this morning I was able to close the adblocker pop up and carry on. Now the pop up keeps returning every few seconds on both FF and Chrome. Time to stick to the mobile app.

Totally agree. I looked on the site using my laptop one day and I couldn't actually see content, just a huge page full of ads! I only use mobile phone via the browser, not the app and I get no ads at all.

I am getting this same issue on two different systems. I have stopped going to the site and have started using other sites for my news. I will be checking back every now and then to see if it has stopped as I do like Android Central. It was the first site I went to when I got my HTC Hero.
