Hi!

Every so often this floating screen pops up with camera assist or writing assist - the edges of the screen glow with the AI pastel rainbow and it highlights anything I touch.

I assume I'm somehow pulling it up with a swipe or gesture... but I don't know what is triggering it or HOW I'm doing that. It's kinda driving me crazy - what's this called, and how do I manage it?

From Gemini search

On the Samsung Galaxy S26, "Live Text" features are integrated into the Samsung Keyboard and the Camera (via Bixby Vision or Google Lens). Depending on whether you want to stop the phone from scanning text in your viewfinder or stop the keyboard from suggesting text extractions, here is how you manage those settings.
1. Camera Live Text (Scan Button)
If you want to enable or disable the yellow "T" icon that appears when you point your camera at a document or sign:
Open the Camera app.
Tap the Settings (gear icon) in the top-left corner.
Tap on Scan documents and text.
Toggle the switch On or Off.
Tip: If you leave this on but disable Auto scan, the phone will only extract text when you manually tap the "T" button.
2. Samsung Keyboard Text Assist
Samsung’s "Live Text" assist in the keyboard allows you to extract text directly into a text field using the camera.
Open the Settings app.
Go to General Management > Samsung Keyboard settings.
Scroll down to Select third-party content to use.
Toggle Extract text on or off.
When enabled, you can tap the three dots (More) on your keyboard toolbar and select "Extract Text" to use your camera as a real-time scanner.
3. Real-Time Translation (Live Assist)
If you are referring to the AI-powered Live Translate for phone calls or chats:
Open Settings.
Tap Galaxy AI (or Advanced features > Advanced intelligence).
Select Phone or Interpreter.
Toggle Live Translate to your preference

Except I use SwiftKey, not the the Samsung keyboard lol (I already googled to figure this out, and saw the same info)

It's definitely some kind of screen gesture, I just don't know what it is

Omg I literally just figured it out!!!

If you hold the edge handle for a long press (without opening it) the AI glow comes up and starts the process. That will be how I keep pulling it up accidentally. Now to figure out how to set it so it's a gesture I want instead of one I don't lol

You can change the handle to be on left or right side , thinner or wider to reduce accidental touches or up /down

Yeah I always tweak the edge handle. Now I know the source I can avoid doing it unless I want to, I just couldn't figure out what I was doing that made it appear, seemingly randomly! Need to dig into the gestures menu to see if there's a way to assign a different shortcut for it. Both the best and worst thing about Android: so many choices sometimes = too many choices!
