I just spoke with Sprint and they assured me that this phone will have the fm radio chipset activated in it. The rep I spoke with was Nicole and she read me all of the specs which categorically states that this is active to receive any available fm radio stations with the ear phones connected to be the antenna.

This being the case, it looks like I will be getting one.

I've been researching this like crazy, ever since my son switched to Sprint on his own 1st plan from my AT&T family plan.

I know what has been said about this, but I asked his Sprint representative when he was doing the switch and he said that their phones usually have this feature even when the other carriers exclude it.

While I am not crazy about going with a carrier branded phone again, I figure it's worth a try to get this feature on this phone. I had a m8 and 7 and loved how well they worked, and coming from a Nexus 6p am looking forward to a new flagship phone.

I am concerned about the glass back, and the curved edges of the screen and wither they will have any glass screen protectors for it, but that will be dealt with when I get it.

The wife and youngest son are going for the Samsung s8. So I'll be able to check out them against mine.

Thanks

Hopefully, for you, it's true. I have no need for a FM radio these days and stream everything I need. My HTC 10 on Sprint doesn't have an FM radio on it like my older HTC's did.

Sometimes it is nice to be able to listen to the radio on your phone. I have 4 U11 phones coming this week (I hope) and 8 free Amazon Echo Dots (coupons from Sprint after phones arrive). And the phones are $306 each, free activation. My monthly plan is now unlimited everything with 10 GB Hotspot per phone for $120 per month (4 lines) as a 13 year loyal customer. Sprint Retentions can be your friend. Waiting for Tech21 or Speck to make cases for these phones. I do like the radio on my M8 every now and then. TuneIn Radio pro does not carry all the local stations.

I'm hoping that they are being honest with me.

We will soon see.

FM radio does not work on Sprint HTC U11. Next Radio says there is a hardware issue. Too bad.

Well this sucks.

Looks like both Sprint and HTC told me wrong.

I have to decide whether to even activate this phone now, because this was one of the main reasons why I chose this phone.

But TunedIn is sounding great with the OEM headphones. I am getting 65 MB/sec download speeds at my house on Sprint, nearly as fast as my wifi Router at 75 MB/sec.

While streaming is great, it's not what I want to do with it.

I am really bummed out right now.

Hi Jon,

Like other recent HTC phones, the U11 is not FM-enabled.

The next version of NextRadio, currently in beta, has support for Internet streaming of radio stations, for phones that can't receive FM. If you like, you can sign up as a beta tester and get this version now. You can do so by going to https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...omer_service&utm_campaign=beta&token=69-qSVJ_

FM radio is handy if no signal and for local stations. Not to mentions less battery consumption using frequency modulation rather than LTE. Nice option.
