There is a setting that you had to turn on to stop apps for restarting with opening up on the internal screen. It annoyed me to until I discover the video on YouTube that mentioned the solution.Hmm... Actually glad to read this.
It was weird with some apps having to "restart" when opening the big screen and also changing the big screen orientation would fool some apps into "thinking" it was a tablet!
Though most apps in their "Tablet mode" really worked poorly, as in the end, this is still a phone.
It will be interesting to see what had changed, what works, etc.

They must have fixed that with the production models. When opening the phone the app is still where you leave off.
