I am considering getting the Fold 4, but I am not a fan of Samsung One UI launcher and have always used Nova launcher on all my android phones.

Is anyone using Nova launcher on their Fold 4 and are you encountering any issues? Does the taskbar still function when using Nova or is that only available on the One UI launcher?

Thank you for your inputs,
Ryan

The stock launcher for the zfold 4 is better imo than Nova for the Zfold4. It doesn't handle the 2 different screens very well. Until Nova makes their launch play well I would stick with stock personally. But that my opinion.

Task bar will not work with Nova. I know on the fold 3 there were delays of the icons displaying when you open the phone. I don't know if that's different on the fold 4. I doubt it since Nova said they were not going to support folding phones.

"Better" depends on the desired use, so you are of course correct in saying, "imo."

Nova launcher is orders of magnitude better for me because the max grid layout of OneUI is only 6 x 5, Nova can go up to 12 x 12. I use 8 x 9 and 12 x 12 in the app drawer.

This allows me to get everything that I want on one screen, without having to swipe, use folders, or edge panels. Everything is just one tap away, and I use several widgets too.

I personally don't care about having a different layout on the front and inside screens, where Nova falls short, so which launcher is "better" depends on the user.

I can't have different layouts on front and inside screens with Nova, but I can have this...

If i didn't use the front screen it would be ok. Now would I prefer Nova, yes as I use it on every other phone that I have.
However, you loose the control over both screens and the trask bar. I can get by with good lock until Nova decides to develop it to work properly with this device.

I played around with OneUI and 4.1.1 taskbar, and didn't like it enough to give up the larger density that I can get with Nova.

Also, the GoodLock recent apps taskbar, (seen in my screenshot), is enough for me.

It's a shame too, because as I've lamented in other similar threads, I want to like and use OneUI, I just can't go without the layouts that I can get with Nova.

No matter how I try, I just can't even get all the widgets I use on one page, let alone along with the app icons. Plus OneUI doesn't allow me to resize widgets as much as Nova does.

Nova may not allow me to have different front & inside layouts, (which I don't even want anyway), but other than that, the customization available with Nova is orders of magnitude better.

C'mon Samsung... pull your head out of your derriere and allow "Nova-level" customization!! :D

With Good Lock Home Up module on my S22 Ultra, I can go to 7x7 on home screen and app drawer. I know it's not quite what you are looking for, but a little better than the stock experience...

I don't know if maybe you can go even higher on the Folds. Maybe worth at least checking it out.

Thank you, I'll give it a shot.

Bumping this up...With the Pixel Fold coming soon (For good or bad as I am trying one). Was hoping Nova has improved for foldables.

I'll be trying it in any case and turn it off if its a PITA.

Any feedback appreciated.

On the Samsung fold the issue on Nova for me was there is a delay on inside screen when you open it. As far as I know Nova has not changed their stance on not supporting folding phones.

It will be interesting if Nova performs same on the pixel folding.
