For anyone in a strong LTE area who exchanged their G-Nex...

Did you actually see any improvement in signal strength and/or LTE speeds? I get anywhere from no 4G service to 4 full bars of 4G in a 10-mile radius of where I live. The unfortunate thing is that I rarely get 4G at home, and when I do, it is 0 to 1 bar maximum and abysmal speeds. I have strictly been using WiFi at home as a result. I'm just trying to decide if an exchange is worthwhile, but I think it will be a waste of time. I have called tech support and they suggested I exchange it. I requested for Verizon to roll a truck out to my area to test the 4G strength to see if I may be in a narrow dead zone but they refused. I should be in a very strong 4G area. Any feedback from those of you who did do a return? Any positive results?

Just a side note, you are better of using Wi-fi at home since it uses less battery and doesn't count toward your data allowance.

I am grand-fathered into unlimited data so that is a non-issue. The point is that I paid for a 4G phone and it should work in a 4G area. I know I'd pull in 4G here just fine with a Razr or Rezound. The point of my question is if there were really a batch of "duds" out there or not regarding radio performance.

I'd love to know also...
I'm in a very strong 4G area.... "according to their map on the website".
The performance of my phone would beg to differ...

Which is a good question that I don't think anyone has a definitive answer to.

Did you check the Verizon 4G map to see if you are in a 4g area vs. an extended 4g area. I live in the latter and my 4g signal was awful with the nexus.

Yes I'm in northern Cincinnati right in the middle of a strong 4G area. There is also a tower less than a mile from me and this area is completely flat as well. The radio issue is my one and only complaint about this phone. I will have a tough decision to make on the 15th if an update does not come out by then addressing this.

I'm in the same situation as the OP. I get zero to one bar at home but, if I go a mile down the street I got four bars and, pulling down over 30 megs. However, I just talked to my friend for over a hour at home, with no drop-off and a very clear call. I may not get the data I want at home but voice calls are no joke.

I don't now what Verizon does but, they dang sure will make sure you can use your phone as a phone. It would just be nice to take advantage of the unlimited data. Maybe with the next update.

I'd get another one...I can't see how they wouldn't give you one given your proximity. Then again if 4G is down....

Lets try this again....I HAD the same problem. Called Verizon and as a TEST had me turn off the WiFi while I was at home. The 4G signal immediately came on. So when the phone is connected via WiFi the 4G signal is not used. If you have unlimited data then turn off the WiFi. This was my issue anyway....hope it helps someone.
