For those of us who did not pre-order..Soundoff about your Sprint Store experience

I showed up at my Sprint Store at 1030 because I didn't think they would open up early but they did. They had drinks and refreshments available. I got on the virtual waiting list and the manager told me I would be cutting it close but I should get one. I walked out of the store 2 hours later with my new phone. Could have been quicker but it wasn't the stores fault, Sprints systems were bogged down and activations were slow. There were 2 phones left when I walked out and about 15 people on the virtual waiting list.

was 4th on the Evo sign up list signed up weeks ago, when i got the my local sprint store, they said they only got 5 phones in and that they were sold out.

I highly doubt this was a Sprint Corporate store. It was probably a Sprint Branded Retail location which is in no way the same thing. Actual Sprint Stores are first come first serve and they put you on a list if they are backed up.

I was first in line they did provide drinks and donuts but my rep must have been a pro because in under ten minutes my evo was paid for full retail and I was out of the store.

Well mine was very easy. I didn't reserve anything. I took a chance on launch day and showed up to my Sprint Corporate store at 9:00AM. The store opened up at 8:00AM. I walked right in, no wait, went right up to the counter, they brought out a brand new EVO for me, no problems. I got a few needed accessories for 25% off. I was out of there within 15 minutes with a new activated EVO. Everyone was very nice and were very helpful.

I made the decision today around 12:30pm this afternoon to pick up my EVO. Walked past my local Sprint store (17th & Market St. phila pa) just as my Pre froze and then reset it's self.

Loved WebOS but only being able to use it when it felt like being used has gotten real old.

Walked in, talked to a helpful but not to knowledgeable Sprint rep and asked if they had any EVO's left. He pulled one out from under his work station. Walled out 5mins later.

All in all it was a breeze.

I went to a Sprint Store on launch day just to play with the Evo a little before making my decision. They were only letting people in about 10 at time, so I had a short wait. Once inside, there were cookies, bottled water and balloons (I don't recall any of that on Pre launch day). The rep was very helpful, except he didn't have a mirror because I wanted to see if I would look like a big goof with this big ole phone next to my head. I decide to go on try it out at least for the 30 days and I'm about to check out with my white accent case and screen covers when I find out my daughter's number was switched to primary and she used my upgrade in April. The issue couldn't be resolved until morning (had to speak to someone in the escalations dept). Next day, no Evo's at Sprint store or anywhere else but rep told me to come back in early afternoon for next shipment. Checked back later, got my Evo...the rep was very helpful in helping me set up the phone, installing apps, and just providing general information. So, despite the small hiccup, my overall experience with Sprint was very positive. In fact, I haven't had neg exp in quite a while.

I arrived at the Kansas City Sprint Studio at about 6:15 and was 4th in line. The 1st guy got there at 5:30, and the other 2 got there just before I did. Not a huge line. Maybe 30 people by the time the doors opened, many of those well after 7. Apparently when they launched the Pre, Dan Hesse and all the big folks were at this store (Sprint HQ, after all, is in the KC Metro). This time around they didn't have a whole lot of the big wigs there, but they DID have some folks from HTC there. I spoke with one for a while. Nice guy.

They had Dunkin' Donuts for us as we waited (It was National Doughnut Day, so it worked). A few of the folks from the Sprint Social Media crew were there and interviewed a few of us for YouTube and their internal stuff. The local NBC affiliate was there early to cover the line as well. Fun, as I was on-air at this station some years ago.

For the actual opening, they had a fully catered crew there and waitresses walking around with breakfast beverages. As we came in, they had a line of reps that took us to purchase our phones as we walked in the dorr. All in all, it was pretty smooth, and it was nice to sit down on a couch in the store with a drink and my Evo to play with it for a bit before I headed to our Social Media breakfast down the street.

I ended up winning a $25 gift certificate for checking in on Four Square first, so that was nice. Of course, they gave away an Evo at my Social Media breakfast, so I could have gotten the phone for free. :)

Some people think standing in line for things like this are silly, but I think they are fun. It's especially nice when the store goes out of their way to make a big deal of the launch of the device. Sprint did it well.
