For us former Note 20 users. How does the S22U feel?

I had the S21 Ultra and the Note 20 Ultra before this. TBH this reminds me of the Note 20 Ultra A LOT. except being a bit faster and better camera. Honestly, other than that I don't see a HUGE upgrade from my memory of owning a Note 20 Ultra.

Still like it much better than S21 Ultra because the pen has bluetooth and all.

I can tell the difference in the weight, the smoothness in scrolling, the crispness of the display and definitely the camera resolution. I'm happy with the upgrade. I was getting worried with the N20U and the BSOD risk, so I was relieved to get it early on Monday.

If you're not using a screen protector are you keeping the touch sensitivity switched on still?

Feels ,Smells,looks just like a Note :)
Today I got mine and little hands on , loving it

Coming from a N20U, the fingerprint reader is faster and more accurate (my biggest gripe with the N20U), and the face unlock seems better also.

Agree there! Finger print unlock was MUCH better on the S21U and on the S22U built on top of that. Also registering your finger prints got easier on the S22U it seems as well.

I am using a tempered glass screen protector, however my hands are miserably dry every winter so I don't use the fingerprint scanner at all, even without the screen protector, until spring at the earliest. And yes, I still have the sensitivity setting on, again because of the dry hands and fingertips.

Coming from the Note 20 Ultra, it's a tiny bit shorter, but it feels so much wider even though I know it's minimal. It makes interacting much more pleasant even if it is harder to hold with one hand due to the width. I'm sure writing with the spen will be better too. It also feels much heavier as well.

The screen is definitely brighter holding them side by side, and it's a much cooler display than the note. The note is a warmer display which looks almost yellow in comparison. I only noticed this holding them side by side, but I now realize I favor the cooler brighter display of the S22 ultra.

I'm not rushing to judgment on battery life because it's still learning, but my battery life has been pretty bad. I also have the display cranked almost all the way up and have the display settings running adaptive with full definition, something I couldn't do with the Note which is really cool! I know that takes a toll on the battery. I also noticed it's running much hotter than my Note. I still need to do some tweaking because I have almost 400 apps loaded and I need to sleep and deep sleep a lot of them. Could be a lot of them are running in the background unnecessarily putting strain on the battery.

A few first impressions. Definitely heavier, and I find I get less text on the screen. The size and font is the same as my Note.

The screen is brighter, the camera seems better although I've only taken a few pics. I haven't even changed my Sim yet.

And it's pretty. I like it so far, but I've nothing bad to say about my N20U. With just the few hours I've played around, I don't feel like I upgraded. I just got a new phone. I'd probably get the same feeling from doing a factory reset and start my Note from scratch. I'm about 70% sure I'm keeping it. The weekend will decide its fate.

I'd say it's basically a Note. Not much difference in look and feel. However little things mean a lot to some people. As mentioned, the S22U is a hair shorter than the N20U as shown in Pic 2. Pic 1 the phones were slanted so I retook the picture.

As stated by @Katrina White1, the S22U is a bit heavier. It's also thicker than the N20U. The width is about the same. The S Pen also has a matte coating (which I like) compared to the glossing finish on the N20U S pen.

It's hard for me to compare size in hand/comfort until I get my Sview case on tomorrow, but I have no complaints in this regard using a silicone cover. The difference in the fingerprint sensor is huge. This is the first phone that Smart Lock has worked on and I don't have to unlock the phone when I'm home or in the office. I agree the SPen is more comfortable but this is certainly not worth the price of upgrading. I use WIFI Pro FTP to transfer media files and this is much faster to internal storage than it was to the SD card, so I'm not upset anymore about not having an SD card. The phone subjectively feels slightly faster but again, this isn't enough of a change to warrant the price. I haven't tested the camera yet so cant speak to that. I've decided it's a keeper.

Interesting observation, I'm intrigued by a potential improvement with Smart Lock. With my N20U, I gave up and use a Bixby Routine instead (its own app, no voice command necessary). So it recognizes when I'm home, and turns off Bluetooth, turns on WiFi, unlocks the phone, puts volume on, etc... similarly when I leave it basically reverses those things. I will say it has worked almost flawlessly, night and day vs my Smart Lock experiences.

I would mostly echo what's been said about the feel. I do notice the slight size differences, mostly the thickness and that the screen is slightly smaller. I also really notice the weight, but even with my N20U, I've hit a point where I feel I need to start using a grip. I have, what would I call it, Note pinky? Hahaha... it's fatigued, always supporting the weight of the phone, let alone a heavier one now.

I do, however, feel the S22U is more balanced in the hand. Since the weight is spread out and lacks the significant camera hump, I find it more comfortable in that regard vs the top heavy N20U.

The size will probably not be as noticeable if I wasn't holding the two side by side, which I will continue to as I plan to keep my N20U for work. Plus, S22U comes with a better battery so it's a trade-off I can appreciate.

I also love the matte spen, I didn't think I'd care, but it's less slippery which I appreciate. Although, maybe it's just my unit, but it doesn't glide in and out as nicely (not difficult, but it drags/skips during removal).

Like Katrina, though, I'm not feeling that excitement of a major upgrade. I hope I continue to be happy and see no issues, then I'll send my N10+ (bye bye gorgeous blue) and keep it pushing, using both N20U and S22U.

I've noticed that the font on N20U (left) is slightly smaller than S22U ( right). Enough that it needs two lines for the same text. As far as I know all other display settings are the same on my phones. 20220224_153632.jpg

I used Bixby on the N20U to turn Wifi off when I got in the car and on again when I got out but I never thought of using it to keep the phone unlocked at home. I'll remember that now if Smart Lock fails. Wish I had thought of that!

If you liked the feel of the Note 20 Ultra you'll like the feel of the S22 Ultra. I personally prefer the boxier styling of the Note. Also glad that they were able to trim the phones thickness in comparison to the S21 Ultra because boy that thing is thick
