Noticed my phone was slightly choppy scrolling through some apps. So I forced 90hz in Developer options.

Definitely much better. Outside of using more battery, is there any other issues with forcing the 90hz?

***Pleasantly surprised with the difference

From what I understand it's just more battery and better performance.

I ran the 4 XL on 90hz always.. I'm sure it will handle battery drain just fine

Am running my 5 on forced 90hz,no probs, still getting great battery life

Yeah, no other difference other than a slightly more battery drain and better performance. I just have my smooth display just turned on because I want the best battery life out of my phone I can possibly get.

How long is your battery lasting with 90 hz forced on? Also another way I found you can save battery life which I've been doing is to turn off always on ambient display...

Update: so I did turn 90 hz refresh rate on my phone off just to test out if I could tell the difference between hz, and 90 hz. With 60 hz I can feel the choppiness. I do notice that 90 hz a little bit more so. Honestly just thought I'd share my thoughts! Again since I'm so uptight slashing all about battery life, I would never force 90 hz on fully, but it's a nice before and after to test out.

I've just switched on 'show refresh rate'.

The phone switches seemlessly to 90 when scrolling, there is no reason to force 90 on all the time

Absolutely correct! That's why "Smooth Display" exits. It'll auto toggle between 60 & 90 hz refresh rates depending on what you're doing in order to save battery! It's a pretty cool idea!
