So I'm using an S7 Edge and found this and posted in the forum. Some guy commented that it's working great on his Note 8 so thought you guys might want to try. It's in the bottom of the Developer Options in Settings.

Have you noticed any issues using these apps that are put on the SD card?

no problems here, and if you do encounter an issue you can just move it back. of course, if you toast your extSD you'll be in dutch, but other than that it works fine.

That's nothing new about forcing apps to the SD card, what's new is finding where Samsung put the option. An app that won't run from the SD card still won't run from the SD card. That's due to the way the app was written, not due to the phone.

From the article:
Do keep in mind that individual apps have to support moving to external storage. Apps that don’t enable the option can’t be moved to the microSD card.

That's the point. Individual apps put in the manifest if they supprt moving to SD card or not. This ignores that manifest.

The only problem I've encountered with moving apps to the card is with one that has a live wallpaper. With one of the recent OS updates, each time I restart, the wallpaper isn't there. I have to reset it in the wallpaper section. It is as if the OS won't recognize it on reboot. On the Note 4, it started to not even be available to select and I had to unmount and remount the card.

On this Note 8, I have the same problem of it not being selected when I do a restart, but I have to go to the app to turn it on. It is already on, I just tap it again and it is there. I have yet to figure out the Wallpaper selection since it is all 'buy this' instead of choosing what I already have. But that's another thread...

that's a given. widgets, wallpapers, icons, etc. all need to stay on the device. and if an app prefers not to be moved you will notice a difference the first time you use it, or can't. I just move it back then.

Is there a speed difference in launching (and using) apps from the SD versus the phone?
Yes there is in launching. The built in memory is faster. This could be mitigated by using high speed cards (UHS 1 or higher). The using part depends on the app itself.
