Hello,I have a Samsung s8. I have not set up a Samsung account or a Google one so I can't use the 'find my mobile' services. I mainly use the fingerprint scanner so I forgot my password, but it's asking for a password because I didn't use the smartphone for 24 hours.
Please feel free to ask any questions that would help you help me. I am immensely distressed. Please help.

I don't think there are any questions to ask.

Your phone wants your password and there is really no way around this. And, if your phone is like most newer Android phones, not even factory resetting it will help because, once it boots, it will still want your password (this is manufacturer's solution to stolen phones being reset and then sold on the black market).

For future reference, setting up fingerprint or face/eye scan security does not absolve you of the absolute need to remember your password and/or write it down someplace where you can retrieve it in a pinch..

Sorry.

Umm, so I can't do anything whatsoever? There has to be some sort of way. Can Samsung tech support do Something?

Mav, totally not needed. After entering the password incorrectly 10 times the phone will factory reset itself. There is ZERO ways to avoid this. This is one of those things you learn. I had a lg g4 that I used the knock codes on all the time. One groggy morning I blanked out on the proper knock code and it fell to the password which SHOULD have been one number but was not. Sooo forced to reset, lost some good stuff I kept in my notes as well as 2 factor auth keys.

I just use the same code and make sure it is the one entered into the phone.

However, on many newer phones, that still does not get you off the hook as, once the phone resets and reboots, you will still need your password to unlock it.

This was put into place to stop phone thefts; steal my Google Pixel 2 XL (or Nexus 5X or any of several other phones), and there is nothing you can do to it to make it usable unless you can figure out my password.

See https://www.androidcentral.com/what-do-if-youre-locked-out-your-phone-after-resetting-it

Although, admittedly, the OP said, "I have not set up a Samsung account or a Google one" so perhaps this does not apply in his/her case.

Why are the mods not letting me post? How much time does it take to approve a post??

Well we do view the queue often but please remember we are volunteers. This means we are normal people like you and everyone so sometimes we may not get to it immediately due to life and such.

Usually we are pretty good though :).

Alright peeps, I rememberd my password! Thanks!

Lol! Now, take a moment to write it down!

Here's a tip: I've been known to use part of my driver's license number, part or all of my car's VIN number, parts of an earlier telephone number, manipulation of my street address, etc.

Any of these will be easier for you to recall in a pinch while still providing a reasonable level of security.
