Forgot pattern lock

Hey,

I forgot my lock pattern, and even though I've tried the wrong pattern about 80 times by now, the "forgot pattern" button won't show up.
I know my gmail address and password, so that's not a problem, I just have no way to enter it.
When I've tried to lock my phone with a password using the android device manager I got a message saying that a lock request has been sent, but right after that it says "We could not lock your device. Please try again."
I've also tried turning it off and on again, hoping that it'd be unlocked after I've entered my pin, but it's still locked.
While I know that I might end up having to reset it, I'd REALLY like to avoid that since I've got some important files on there.

Is there any other way at all to unlock it?

I think you might have to go into device manager from a computer and wipe your device. That is if you activated it.

You might be able to disable the pattern lock and unlock your device via adb. I found this:

Is this phone actually linked to your Google account? Is it online (that is, does it have a working SIM card installed)?

Yeah, it's linked to a google account and it's got a working SIM card.
I guess I could wipe everything using the device manager but I'm only going to do that if there's absolutely no other way.

Can't use ADB because I dont have USB debugging enabled.

There's not much else I could do, is there?

Yeah, I did try that already, but sadly it didn't work.

Try it this way:

1) Enter an incorrect pattern. Note: a simple straight line doesn't count; include at least four dots in your pattern

2) Repeat a total of five times until you get the error message.

3) Tap OK and then IMMEDIATELY begin drawing new patterns

4) After you have drawn three new patterns, the FORGOT PATTERN button will appear.

5) Enter your complete email address and password.

That techhive actually works, forgot my pattern earlier this morning after changing it in my sleep and it over ride it.

Even after so many attempts, I am not getting "forgot pattern" option.

I tried Android device manager, but when i set lock through this, it says "your nexus is already set with lock, so you wont need this password to unlock".

I dont know what to do. I definitely dont want to reset my phone to default settings.
