I can attest to this. There is something special being added into this phone but as of now up in the clouds ;). Many of you will be pleasantly surprised with Verizon and HTC. It's worth the wait!

Now that we're pretty sure what the date is (March 10), we can bicker about this alleged new surprise.

Some popular points are an extended battery, Gingerbread, and fancy software. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say hologram projector.

Update: Over 9,000 views in 3 hours. We also got on the front page. It's not sticky, but it's close enough!
Update 2: Over 24,000 views and 400 replies, all on topic. So far, Bennnnn has confirmed that one of these posts is correct about the new feature(s), and Jerryyyyyyy has confirmed that one of them is a cupholder.
Update 3: Too many views and over 1,000 posts. Jebus.

Confirmed by Bennnnn: Netflix, Google Music, and Onlive. Some may not be available out of the box.

I'm guessing it means that it will, afterall, be released with Skype functional and active.

I will go out on a limb and say dual core, but it will probably be that it will ship with 2.3 or 2.4 (gingerbread)
I like where this thread is going :)

Call me a skeptic, but I'm not exactly banking anything on someone who shows up to tease a widely-rumored release date as fact with a riddle, and can "confirm" an additional feature exists without telling us what it is.

Both tidbits are unspecific rumors we've already heard with zero additional info.

Hmmmmm. Gingerbread sounds interesting...+1 for that.
If its something to do with HTC AND Verizon... it can't be hardware related.. that would only be HTC.
So lets see... something from HTC and Verizon that will make us happy..... I know...that they're finally releasing the phone:p

or two... thats a clue. 2 cores.

I can attest to this. There is something special being added in two this phone two circumvent issues as of last week and its NOT a bigger battery (This has been fixed). Many of you will be pleasantly surprised with Verizon and HTC. Two me, it's worth the wait ;)

I think dual core is really out of the question. You can't just retrofit a new processor into a phone.

However, I think Gingerbread is a very real possibility. They may not like the idea of tens of thousands of new TBolt owners bricking their new flagship phone in the first few weeks, if you know what I mean. :D Probably just better to put Gingerbread on it in advance. I mean, since they had the "extra time" apparently for other reasons.

Gingerbread + Skype for a 1, 2 punch!

Not to put on the tinfoil hat, but did they actually really type "two" instead of "to?" I feel like if the Thunderbolt decided to have two cores, they would revamp their entire advertising campaign to parade about the dual core, and they would have to gut the stored phones and replace them. How long and how much manpower would that take?

Dual Core Thunderbolt? We can only dream, but you got your hint for the day.

yes. 100% copy/pasted from original post.

Exactly. You don't just lick the back of a processor core and stick it to a chip like you would a postage stamp and say, "voila, now this is a dual core device."

First of all, there is no available dual core snapdragon that is on the market now, so you would have to assume they went with a Tegra, in which case all software on the phone has to be re-designed. Come on guys...

And by the way, our mysterious BENefactor obviously edited out that annoying "two" riddle as to not imply dual core, so he won't be discredited once we all realize the obvious... they didn't add another core to thunderbolt. :-\
