Anyone with Froyo... How many Frames Per Second are you getting? Are you still limited to 30 FPS?

Don't root you're phone just for a fps fix. It's pretty stupid to void your warranty just for a fps fix. But that's just me

where does it say root voids warranty? the courts ruled it legal....I'd like to see that case. Or do you have a droid?

All that ruling means is you can root your phone without legal repercussions. You still void your warranty because you are tampering with the device.

Ok...I keep reading this as an issue and maybe I just don't understand. I don't see the need to root the phone for a minor change.

Again maybe its just my ignorance on FPS.

show me
Only physically modifying the device is tampering
I can "unroot" and they will never know thus I didn't tamper

so when I install linux on my windows laptop I void the warranty? not

With root + cyanogen mod.. i'm getting 52fps on avg in the bench mark apps. Can definitely tell in the UI when scrolling or dragging an icon around the screen and moving your finger fast around the screen.. the icon stays much closer to where your finger is instead of it lagging behind like seeing trails. So there is definitely an improvement in the UI with the fps unlocked.

It's a different warranty.

returning a rooted phone may void

but the act of rooting is not going to void, if you flash it back before returning

it's how they get it or ask them for help....

I am getting 53-54fps w fresh rom. Both games and UI run a lot smoother now. The only game I play id homerun battle 3d though. 20fps is a big difference.

If you modify the OS you won't get any support from HTC or Sprint if there is an issue. Clearly, if you break your phone and file a warranty claim that will be covered but if you brick your Evo and you are not running stock you won't get a replacement!

And, if you take your non-stock phone into a Sprint store for any reason and they see it is not stock they won't help you unless you get really lucky.

if it's bricked and you can't fix it no matter what, then you smash the screen and drop it in water turn it on and let the sucker fry.... that's what you have insurance right? if its bricked and you know they aren't going to get it replaced for free then use your $7 insurance to get another one for $100...

they can't tell it's rooted if it's fried..
