Franco Kernel on the Nexus 6

Has anyone installed Franco Kernel on their device? I hear it's awesome in helping to optimize battery life, as well as other things. Also, I assume the kernel comes with the paid updater that's available in the Play Store? Should I get the device, I plan to root and flash the kernel on stock and test it out. Any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

I hate to sound like a jerk here, but you've probably posted at least ten times back and forth about getting the nexus 6. You claimed you are going to get it as soon as it was available in the play store them someone noted that it was and you then said you were hesitant because of rumors.

Buy it or don't Jesus! You've read all the good and you've read all the bad. **** or get off the pot. The nexus squared will be out before long.

Not that I feel the need to explain myself, but I am a student, and as such, I am waiting for my financial aid check to come in before I make such a serious purchase. So it's not about **** or get off the pot. For another thing, I never said I'd get the device as soon as it was in the Play Store, because, well, I can't. Now, had you stuck with your secondary comment and made it your initial, that would be more on point, because frankly, it's my prerogative to ask as many questions as possible in a forum such as this. Thanks anyway.

Franco works OK, but I prefer Sensei, or Despair. But then I'm not running a CM rom.

You did post that as soon as it was in you'd buy it but it still was showing unavailable in the play store. But you're right is your prerogative to do whatever you want, just as it's mine to voice my being sick of hearing the same crap from the same people. Have a splendid day!

I ran Franco on stock and now with Pure Shamu. I've had zero issues and imo it has improved better life.

I have no experience with the Franco kernel, but in regards to getting the device, I'd say wait until you see what HTC and Samsung show us.

I'm using the international variant S3, with a 4,200 mAh extended battery. I am interested to see the M9 announcement, however, because of the 1080P screen. No doubt it will be easier on the battery life. Also, the front-facing speakers intrigue me. I'm no stranger to HTC, having owned a MyTouch , so it should be interesting.

The front facing speakers are definitely nice, a friend of mine has the m8 and they sound amazing. The speakers on the nexus 6 are pretty good too in my opinion.

I use to own the HTC HD 2 and mytouch 4g. Both great phones imo.

I use to own the HTC HD 2 and mytouch 4g. Both great phones imo.

Yeah, I had the MyTouch 4G Slide when I was stuck on needing the Qwerty keyboard after being used to the one on the Blackberry Torch. The speakers on the Nexus 6 are definitely great, but the ones on the M8 have a fuller, richer sound. I expect more of the same and better on the M9.

Not boring at all using Android the way it's intended. That's why I admire Motorola for using only necessary features while staying close to stock. That's my ideal dream device-- a Nexus 6 with Motorola features, lol.

I said the same thing in another thread. I dream of a day where I can take the Moto X Pro's ROM (device to be released in China) and put it on my Nexus 6 since it appears to be the Nexus 6's hardware with the Moto X's customized ROM.

There is talk about another Motorola phablet, supposedly being released in May for Verizon with a 4,000 mAh battery (drool). I'd jump on that if ever they released a Pure Edition.

I have had no issues with Nexus 6 battery life. I manage an IT company so my phone is constantly getting flooded with alerts and push notifications on top of everything else I do on it all day. And I have never once had the phone die on me. On most days, I have at least 35% to 50% left when I go to bed. So to me, any larger of a capacity will just mean that it'll recharge quicker while I'm sleeping which is during a time that it can take its merry time.

I've downloaded CF-Auto Root and WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. Is there a difference to using one or the other to root the phone? Also, I thought Nexus phones have unlocked bootloaders, yet I see videos on YouTube about OEM unlocking. What's that about?

I've downloaded CF-Auto Root and WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. Is there a difference to using one or the other to root the phone? Also, I thought Nexus phones have unlocked bootloaders, yet I see videos on YouTube about OEM unlocking. What's that about?

Nexus devices have unlockable bootloaders. But they are not unlocked out of the box. That would be a huge security risk.
