Hi all,

First time poster here.

Galaxy S3, current updates etc.

So my phone's been great, had it about a year. No major issues at all with the battery or anything. Two days ago I pulled it off the charger in the morning (said 100%). When I looked down at it when I hopped into my car, it said 57%. I thought that's weird, so I turned it off, pulled the battery, waited for awhile, put everything back together and turned it on. ~60%. Hmm.

Charged it through the day at about 5pm it was back up to around 80's, and it seemed to be losing power normally. Didn't notice where it was when I plugged it in before bed.

Woke up this morning, 100%. Within two seconds off the charger, it dropped to 47%. Weird. Plugged it back in, immediately up to 100%. Unplugged it, 47%. Weird.

I listened to pandora on the way in to work (over 3/4g), headphone jack to my car stereo (not internal speaker). It worked it's way down from 47% to 29% in like half hour.

What's going on? I'm sure someone else has had this happen? Thanks for any advice, help, etc! My wife has the same phone, same battery, I could try swapping out, but this doesn't really scream battery to me.

Welcome to the fourms!
Try clearing the phone's cache in recovery. There may be data conflict between updates. Here is how: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ing-into-recovery-mode-galaxy-s2-s3-tab2.html

Just thought I would upload this picture for reference of today. It illustrates the orig posting pretty well. You can see at the beginning it jumps down from 100 to 47 roughly. IN the middle there is where I rebooted and cleared the cache. Did a couple short charges since, nothing as steep as the original fall off obviously.

I will update again tomorrow after a full charge

I cleared the cache, reset my data connection, got a new battery, etc...The drain continued until I did a factory reset. So far so good.

I'm glad it worked for you, but I did say "analysis," not randomly trying things until something works. It's usually possible to figure out what specific app or process is causing the problem, and fix that.

I wanted to follow back up after roughly 15 days after the original cache clearing.

Since I did that I have not experienced the weird 'quick draw' from 100% down to roughly 50% immediately after unplugging it from the charger. So it appears to be corrected for the time being. Thanks for the advice!
