Looks like LG will be offering extra battery and charger for the G5.

They did a similar promotion with the V10, which my brother was able to take advantage of when he upgraded recently.

You had to figure they would do this promo, but what's with the "coming soon" announcement? Looks pretty bad when they show off the phone weeks ago and still can't lock down a release date.

Well the "coming soon" is in reference to the promotion. You can't exactly have an active promo when the phone isn't out yet.

Canada has been confirmed for April 8 launch and it's presumed the US will be about the same time. Is the exact launch date of a phone that important when it's a month away?

It's pretty odd to announce a promotion that is available "for a limited time'" and then have a link to sign-up for a notification of when you can actually pre-order the phone. This definitely seems like a "don't forget about us!" type of announcement lol.

The date isn't important to me at all. It is to LG, though. They wanted to go head to head with Samsung and announced the g5 on the same day at MWC, and yet the s7 is available tomorrow and they still don't have an exact release date for the g5.

So far I only know BestBuy has it pre-order on March 18th . Didn't see other careers have them

Of course they announced at MWC. Lots of press is important. They knew they were announcing over a month before availability. They also knew that Samsung was beating them to market which is why they announced at MWC. Nothing wrong with that. Try to steal some thunder from Samsung. They certainly didn't want to not announce and then have Samsung announce and ship before anyone knew specifics about the G5.
