Just a reminder, free texting.

My wife and I have identical Verizon plans with limited texting. We each downloaded Google Talk -- which is free sms texting, and use that exclusively to text each other, saving our Verizon texting for friends etc.

Voila: we don't go over our texting limit. :)

Its not really "free-texting" because its considered as data, just like any instant messaging app, such as AIM, or Yahoo.

So, you can use this way of communicating with other people that don't have Androids too without using up your limited text messaging.

It's really an IM app but I can see its use as a texting replacement.

GV uses data and it actually does send/receive SMS. "Data" isn't the defining line as far as what is or isn't texting.

Is Google Talk Google hangout the same thing? I can't find Google Talk in my app store
