Freezing or renaming and root apps?

Hi guys. Many thanks to this community. For the outstanding help. No doubt that I would have trashed this Android or went to the iPhone if it wasn't for you all. Again, thanks.

Although I have learned so much in the last two weeks weeks I just wanted to clarify things right quick.

Its always much safer to rename the apps and not remove them?

Super User is a must for controlling what programs are given permission to root?

Titanium Backup is the way to go for backup?

After reading the forums for a couple weeks and seeing the "rename" technique being use instead of just flat out deleting apps I started to wonder, is freezing an app the same as renaming them? Not wanting to do something silly I looked at apps for freezing. I noticed I can unlock the feature in Titanium but the price is six bucks. I did find an app and purchased it called Bloat Freezer. So far it does an outstanding job. I'm extremely happy with it at this point. I wanted to be as safe as possible and not dig into folders and start renaming stuff if I wasn't 100% I wasn't going to screw it up.

Am I right in thinking the freezing is the same thing as renaming? If so and I do freeze a couple apps at a time to be safe and notice after some time that the phone is working fine, should I just toss the non Verizon apps or leave them be?

Again, thanks guys. Cant tell you how much help this place is.

Donnie
