FRF91 Has Issues

Just did the FRF91 update and its causing some issues that weren't present with FRF85.

For example, when powering up the phone the AT&T radio doesn't seem to connect to the network properly. Where I would normally have full bars it shows only one and doesn't seem like data connection works right away. After waiting a while all bars return and data is okay.

Also, doesn't seem to run well with Swype. I had to reinstall Swype after doing the update, like when updating to FRF85, but unlike FRF85, Swype seems do disable every time you reboot. You have to go into settings and Keyboard and turn Swype back on, no longer the default keyboard after reboot.

Not sure what it fixed, but I'd recommend upgrading with caution.

UPDATE: Moved Swype back to phone from SD card and it seems to be starting as default keyboard on reboot.

I got the OTA when I woke up this am and ran it. All seems fine. It did not go through the long process of getting ready (some say it is re-downloading all apps) and I am not experiencing any sluggishness.

Seems all is well is Froyo land--at least for me.

Noticed a similar issue with Pandora. When I moved it to my SD card, the Pandora widget stopped working. I tried rebooting, then it disappeared completely, & when I went to add it back to one of my homescreens, it was totally missing from my list of widgets. Moving the app back to my phone and rebooting fixed the issue.

I still think I notice odd behavior from the radio. When I first made the move to Froyo and FRF85 the reception seemed pretty close to perfect. With FRF91 things are not as smooth.

For example, tonight I was in an extremely crowded area watching fireworks and lost my signal entirely; however, my buddy's iPhone had full bars (on EDGE). I tried unsuccessfully to force my phone into 2G mode and only upon powering off and back on did I regain signal (on EDGE).

Is there by any chance separate versions of FRF91 for T-Mobile and AT&T?

Are you rooted? I had the same radio problem when I installed 91 from 85. Mine is rooted. I did a complete wipe then flashed the 91 rom. Before restarting I also flashed the root and add on package, then restarted. Once it completely loaded I never got a data signal, edge or 3g, or even gprs for that matter. I tried rebooting the phone but even that didn't help. I had to rewipe the phone and then flash each package separately. Haven't had a problem since then. Hope that helps.

Widgets have to be stored on the phone and not the sdcard to work properly.

I'm still using the old method of Apps2SD until FroYo's Apps2SD is ironed out.

I've been running Froyo since the OTA's and think the reception issues were more related to AT&T's network. Everything else seems to be working pretty well (except wifi sleep and the occasional touch location having a mind of its own, but both problems existed before 2.2).

I believe the touch issue is not fixable, hardware issue. For reception I don't have any problems so I don't know of any issues with that.
