From M8 to 10

Finally got my HTC 10 today so I could lay my trusty M8 to the graveyard. However, I got to say I'm underwhelmed and there are two major areas of concern.

First is to do with the screen. I have both phones side to side and I'm not really seeing the vast advantage of the 10s screen quality over the M8. It's a litter bit more detail but it's not jump and grab out at you better. You see it when you look closely but that's it.

Also the screen brightness on the M8 is far more brighter than on the 10. Someone advised that it might take a few weeks for the brightness issue to set itself right and then it will improve, but at the moment my 2 & 1/2 year old M8 is definitely brighter when both are at max brightness.

Second issue is the Wi-Fi speeds...I have both phones connected to my wifi and when I do speed test the 10 is much slower than the M8 is anyone else noticing this too?

On the positive note it is noticeably faster than the M8 and the audio quality is very impressive much better than m8.

I love HTC but I'm not sure I'd actually recommend this as an upgrade over the M8...it has better hardware than the M8 but because of the negative issues above its not amazingly better than the M8 it's just better.

Sorry is this comes across as a whine I'm just being honest...
Has anything else noticed these issues or is it just me...

I also came from an M8, and I really really like the 10.
I'll try to compare the screen brightness when I get home, but I guess i've never noticed an issue. I actually keep the brightness on the 10 at around 25% with auto-dimming.

As for Wi-Fi speed, what speeds are you seeing on each? When I get home I'll run a speedtest on my 5Ghz Wi-Fi on both ( i have 400mbps internet) and see how they fare.

Ran a speed test on my service last night using WiFi and i was able tog et 270 down and 20 up.
So either your unit is defective, your routers not set up properly or a few other issues.
As far as screen brightness goes not sure why yours may be so dim. Mine seems good. But i guess thats a relative term as i almost never need mine to go full brightness.

Speedtest on M8 maxed out about 120 down.
10 made it to about 220-230, but the test over then, so i'm not sure if it would've kept climbing higher than that.

Wi-Fi send to be behaving now after a restart.... It now at least matches the M8... As for the screen brightness, apparently there is a known condition for some new units that suffer from pink hue and low brightness... apparently it van take anywhere from 24 hours to 2/3 weeks to go away. My screen is definitely got a pink hue... solution involve putting it under a UV light or leaving screen at max brightness.... Thanks for all your help.

PS if I had to describe the difference between the both phones I would say the M8 is like the wild older brother/ sister full of excitement and fun whilst the HTC 10 is the younger more serious younger brother/sister that gets excellent grades in all subjects but is a little bit dull...lol

The reason why I say this is because I miss's the stereo speakers and the IR remote of the M8 but I love how the HTC 10 is competent powerhouse.
