Froyo 2.2 and rebooting

After I updated to froyo 2.2, my evo would reboot sometimes by itself.

It seems to occur when I use google goggles' camera.

Anyone have similar problems and if so how do you fix it?

Hmm, no idea.
But bump.

Are you getting a force close?
Are any other apps doing this?

Try other camera apps like "Camera", "Qik", "Vignette", etc.
Try to autofocus.
 
No forced close. Just suddenly restarts on its own. Very frustrating. Doesn't happen often though, so hard to locate the problem. NEVER happened before froyo update though!!!
 
I have seen the same thing, but mainly after the phone has been in my pocket or setting by itself. I just uninstalled Advanced Task Killer to see if that is the issue...
 
Advanced task killer probably is not the issue here. I don't even have that app in my phone. Could it be Latitude?
 
My wife's EVO had been rebooting randomly after the froyo update. I did a hard reset on her phone and that has seemed to clear things up.
 
When I first got my EVO, I rooted with UnrEVOked and installed a few outside of the market apps. After this my phone would restart any time I launched a GPS based app. Are you seeing this reboot with any other GPS based app or just with Google Goggles? I had to do a factory reset to fix the issue and I haven't rooted my phone since. I have read a couple of other Froyo update threads and people have been reporting a wide range of problems. Some have said that doing a factory reset fixed their problems, so you might want to give that a try if all else fails. I just used Google Goggles and I'm not seeing any problems.
 
I had ATK installed prior to the update and it is still running on my phone after the update. I've used it several times to kill apps, but they just relaunch after a few minutes. Haven't had a single reboot though.
 
Google goggles does have the GPS location on in the camera function. I wonder if that is it.
 
Hi,

Just want to update everyone who had the same problem as me. I found the reason as to why my phone was restarting by itself after froyo update. It appears that GOOGLE MAPS w/ GPS was causing the phone to crash and restart. I was able to locate the cause to the problem. The fix is to do a hard reset and phone has not restarted since then. Remember to update everything else after a hard reset. Update profile, PRL, etc.

So far phone is working great with no known issues. Hope my experience will help others out. Take care.

Sweet! Glad you got it fogued out and fixed! Thanks for the update, I'm sure this will help others out who have the same problem.
 
I had this problem as well. I just pulled the battery for a few minutes as a last ditch effort to avoid a factory reset and everything has been running fine since then.
 
I spoke too soon.

Please HELP. Even after hard reset, phone still restarts when I start google maps app.

HOw can I fix this?
 
I had this happen on 2.1 when I turned off the always on mobile data, which is a recommended battery saving technique. The phone would all of the sudden just reboot. When I rechecked it to on, never had the problem again.
 
constant reboot

i had sprint order me a new one today as the 15mins i was in the store it had rebooted 4 times. new one gets here tomorrow, this will be number 3 since july 1st.... first one was replaced due to car mode being stuck on, even after hard reset it resurfaced within 10mins
