Froyo and wifi tethering

Do you think apps like pdanet and whatnot will allow us a bypass of the Verizon $20/2GB/month cap? Wifi tethering is a standard piece of 2.2, but do you think Verizon will find a way to finally hijack 3rd party tethering, or will they simply assume that the population that knows about it is small enough that it wont matter?

i asked about this in the x forum, and it seems pdanet works just fine on the droid x. i dont see how vzw could lock out those apps; especially pdanet which shows the data just 3g being used by the phone, not as 3g data being used on another device
